About the blogger, Yemaya Olokun:
May 19th, 2009Merry Meet,
This blog is primarily to document my journey as a Wiccan Priestess. I have been a Priestess serving the Old Ones for roughly eleven years, and I find that there is always more to learn on this beautiful path. I am a Second Degree Priestess and Third Degree Dedicant in the Sacred Mists Tradition, which I consider to be my spiritual home and family. My magickal name, Yemaya Olokun, is from the beautiful Yoruban/Santeria Goddess/Orisha Yemaya, the Mother of All, the Ocean itself. Olokun, in some traditions, is Her aspect which can only be seen in dreams, the deepest part of the ocean where riches dwell. Despite my intial reluctance that it may be disrespectful to take the name of and to be a Priestess of One who belonged to a culture different from mine, Yemaya Herself urged me ahead with honouring Her, and so I have done, and take this very seriously and with ‘ mirth and reverence’, as the Goddess tells us in Her Charge.
I am also a Sister in the Sisterhood of Avalon, and the Avalonian Mysteries are dear to my heart. Astrologically speaking, I’m a Leo sun sign, Pisces moon, and Aquarius rising. I currently reside in Central Canada with my handfasted soulmate and our two fluff demons…er..cats. I’m a registered social worker by profession. I also am a registered legal marriage commissioner for my province, which means I can perform legal weddings/handfastings. It’s a great joy to have this responsibility.
As shown in my magickal name, which in itself has a dual meaning,I think that this time ’round the Wheel, it’s my role in this life to be one that lives ‘between the worlds’ constantly; two examples of this are that I’m of mixed ancestry (First Nations and European),and I live with Bipolar Disorder. These, and others, are and have been both blessings and curses. I’m trying to find a “third space” from the dichotomies and to enjoy “sitting in the middle and playing with string” (as Dennis Lee said in ‘Alligator Pie’, a children’s book that has gems of wisdom for adults in it, as many of them do.) ; working them through on my loom to make new creations, ever spinning across the universe.
I hope you enjoy this Blog, and as a fellow Wiccan Priest once told me:
“With each step you take, your feet kiss the Mother Earth. Make every step count”
Namaste,
Yemaya Olokun, Wiccan Priestess

i’m normally scurrying throughout the net virtually all of the time and so I tend to read significantly, which isnt commonly a beneficial matter as the largest part of the internet resources I look at are made up of useless waste copied from several other sites a trillion times, nevertheless I gotta give you props this webpage is indeed half decent and even offers a lot of authentic material, for that reason thanks for breaking the trend of only replicating other peoples’ websites, if you ever want to try a few hands of zynga poker together with me just let me know – you have my email

Good points…I would note that as someone who really doesn’t comment to blogs much (in fact, this may be my first post), I don’t think the term “lurker” is very becoming to a non-posting reader. It’s not your fault at all, but perhaps the blogosphere could come up with a better, non-creepy name for the 90% of us that enjoy just reading the content .

Interesting post i totally agree with the other comments. Keep us posting

Hi… I don’t know if you’ve been making changes, but your pages aren’t displaying correctly for me. The edges of the text are running into each other. I didn’t do this the other day. I don’t know if it’s something on my computer or if you’ve made a change… Just thought you might want to look at it. Thanks!

Thank you for the sensible critique. Me & my neighbour were preparing to do some research about that. We got a good book on that matter from our local library and most books where not as influensive as your information. I am very glad to see such information which I was searching for a long time.
