Welcome to my Witch’s Diary
June 6th, 2009Welcome to SheenaghBrighid’s blog!
This promises to be a wonderful place for me to talk about what is going on in my spiritual life and it couldn’t come at a better time as I am trying to figure out a whole bunch of “what comes next” on this path.
First thing’s first, though… My magickal name is SheenaghBrighid and I’ve been practicing the Craft for about a decade now, after forty years (to the day!) as a Christian. It was a spiritual homecoming for me – as it is for so many – when I realised that I was a witch, and that I had taken the “witchy turn” on my journey a long time before I noticed that the signposts had changed. Three people, over the space of three weeks, asked me, “Are you a witch?” and when the third person asked, I finally replied, “Yes, I guess I am.” No doubt the Goddess and God are still laughing about that one. I suppose it’s nice to know that you are, if nothing else, entertaining.
Brighid claimed me not long after that; I still recall how that felt: as though I was being pulled by my lapels with a very ascerbic “Took you long enough!” ringing in my head and resonating in my heart and soul. I have been a “Brighid’s Babe” ever since and I don’t mind one bit. Cerridwen and Oghma also work with me, as I stumble along my path, and I am glad for their help. It was one of those ironies that come along in life – my education and training was all with the Greek pantheon, but the Celtic deities knew about my Irish blood and claimed me. As a result, I have been learning about their pantheon and possibilities and it’s been big fun so far.
So here I am… a ritual writer, spell caster and Tarot reader… travelling along her magickal path and trying to remember to notice the scenery along the way.
Blessed Be!
