meditation

Hi there folks!  I realize that I’ve probably lost anyone who still followed my blog in my once again absence.  To say that life caught up with me?  Well that would be a gross understatement.  We have arrived on the final day of August in 2016, it’s 10pm Pacific and I am sitting here with an amazing amount of thoughts rolling through my head.

In the last little while, I’ve been through so much and have really spiritually grown in new and fantastic ways.  My path has deepened.  My crystal healing work is continuing to grow in terms of knowledge and overall collection.  I am content again.  I am going to start working out again via BeachBody On Demand.  I am stepping outside my comfort zone and really working on myself and the world around me.

I realized, not that long ago, that while I may not believe it, I do have value.  I do deserve happiness.  I deserve feeling and being beautiful.  What does this all mean?  Well I am doing new things.  I am starting small with things like my hair, my wardrobe and working out at least 5 days a week to start.  I am writing a lot, I am learning a lot.  Above all, I’ve learned to love myself for who I am not for any of the qualifiers that people put on me.  What do they know that I do not, about myself?  Pretty much nothing.

Who am I?  I am a witch.  I am fat. I am beautiful. I am worthy.  I am loved.  I love.  I have some really fantastic friends, who when I was at my absolute lowest, they stood by me.  These are the people that lift me up instead of tear me down.  The friends who helped me when I fell, the ones who stood for me when I could not.  Beautiful spirits, each one of them that stood by me when I could not stand by them because I was broken and struggling to regain myself.  I lost a few friends along the way.  People that I thought would stick by me, when I reached this low point.  Guess I was fooled.  That hurt a bit.  I am not going to let it keep me down. Ultimately, I cannot be responsible for  anyone other than myself and how I react to things.  I won’t defend myself, I don’t need to. I will not justify myself or my absence, I don’t need to.  I will stand and know that I have come through the gates of Tartarus and emerged stronger, smarter and a different person.

To everyone that I have EVER known, whether present in my life or not, I thank you so much for your contribution to my growth.  It was through your season(s) of friendship that I have emerged on the other side of this a different person.  To the folks who are still with me, I cannot say, words are so inadequate, how much you have meant to me as I navigated these dark corridors of my shadow workings.  I love each of you…my friends past and present.

In this moment, I thank everyone who has ever been in my life. I offer you my love and genuine thanks in this blessed moment as I transition to what comes next.

In this moment, I thank everyone who has ever been in my life. I offer you my love and genuine thanks in this blessed moment as I transition to what comes next.

Today brings us to the “end” of the elemental workings as we focus on that of spirit.  What is spirit?  Spirit is the light and life that brings everything together.  Where does it come from?  What can it teach us?  Spirit is everything and nothing.  The breath of the universe and the spark of divinity that is in everything around us.  It is the alchemy that binds us, moves us, transforms us.  This brings us unity and magick and to the core of divinity.

Absorbing Spirit:

Close your eyes and see yourself sitting silently and alone in the center of a room with nothing in it.  You see the walls and the floor are completely devoid of any adornments and trappings.  It’s simply you and the empty space of the room.  Slowly you begin to realize that you are not in an entirely empty room, there is light twinkling in and out of spaces.  You continue breathing gently and purposefully and notice that the twinkling of light is increasing as you breath until you are encircled by twinkling lights.  Know you are safe in this circle of light it cannot harm you.  With this knowledge you realize you are being surrounded by the element of spirit, the light of that and the universe protect you.

Continue breathing deeply and with each breath, you breathe in the element of spirit.  The light of spirit begins to fill your entire body filling you with an amazing warmth and weightlessness, count how many breaths it takes until you are completely filled with the element of spirit.  What does it feel like to be filled with spirit? Where does the spirit not move cleanly through you Where does it become broken, where does it not exist or move too quickly? See these areas and what they correspond to. Mentally and emotionally allow the element to help repair the damage and the element will exist evenly and throughout.

Once spirit is flowing and pulsing fully within you, you are ready to project it back out of your being, thankful for the blessing of balance it has given you.

Continue breathing evenly. With each breath you project a bead of spirit. You will project the same number of beads of the element that you breathed in. With each exhalation of the element you remain balanced within this element.

Today marks the final day in the elemental work we’ve been doing and I must say that I feel much more balanced than I did when I started this little project out.  Today I feel light hearted, free and filled with joy.  There is a lot to do (like any day) but even the crankiest thing will not affect me.  This process will be one that I do monthly going forward and perhaps more than one element a day not sure but it will be ongoing.  I definitely feel different.

Have you been following along?  Have you been joining me in these exercises?  How do you feel?

I’ve gotten “caught” up in my posts so that none are missing, despite the one being a day late for yesterday’s Water post.  Today I am working with Earth.  Earth, happens to be my weakest element.  There is something very smothering about it in many ways and so controlling.  I have never been able to “completely let go” and soar because Earth seems to just hold on.

What is the element Earth?  Aside from being our bodies, our home and filled with wonder?  Earth grounds us, protects us and shelters us.  Earth is a great provider.  Our food is of the earth, we are enriched by it’s beauty, we are in awe of the destructive forces it can unleash upon us.

Absorbing Earth:

Close your eyes. See yourself sitting calmly in nature (someplace where you can touch the ground such as a forest, cave or meadow). Nothing exists but you Earth around you. Feel the texture and weight of the Earth around you. See how the Earth moves with each breath you take. Breathe deeply, Earth does not become agitated , but appears to be swirling gently around you. It is creating a circle around you. Know that you are safe in this circle of earth. The earth cannot harm you, but is protecting you. Nothing exists but you and the circle of earth which has surrounded you.

Continue breathing deeply, with each breath you are being filled with the Element, you are breathing in the element itself. Slowly the Element begins filling your being. Count each breath in, Keep this count, see this as a bead, how many breaths does it take for Element to fill your being? Remember this number. The characteristics of Element have filled your being. What does it feel like to be filled with earth? Where does the earth not move cleanly through you Where does it become broken, where does it not exist or move too quickly? See these areas and what they correspond to. Mentally and emotionally allow the Element to help repair the damage and the Element will exist evenly and throughout.

Once your Element is flowing evenly and steadily, you are ready to project that element back out of your being.

Continue breathing evenly. With each breath you project a bead of Earth. You will project the same number of beads of the element that you breathed in. With each exhalation of the element you remain balanced with this Element.

This exercise is always difficult for me.  I always feel as if I am being suffocated.  As a result of that it takes me considerably longer to “fill” myself as I have to take it slowly in order to keep the panic of suffocation at bay.  One of the changes I did with this exercise is instead of the “movement” I decided to fill myself and look for cracks or fissures in the earth that has filled me.  I looked and began focusing on the energy centers of my body that exhibited a less than full amount of earth and began working to fill that by adding soil to the whole and shifting it around until the fissures closed.

I think with time this exercise will become easier as the more I work with the earth element the more comfortable I will become with it.  Maybe a few more times and I won’t have a near panic attack. *laugh*

In continuing the theme of working with the elements, my next step is that of Fire.  As with yesterday I begin by doing the fire absorption exercise that I modified from my first degree training at Sacred Mists.  These exercises are actually quite good to maintain some balance within the elements and within your body.  I recommend doing them regularly and am working on adding them back into my practice for at minimum monthly to help keep my balance in place and to gain strength in working with each element.

Absorbing Fire:

Close your eyes. See yourself sitting calmly next to a camp-sized fire. Nothing exists but you and this fire. Feel the warmth of this fire. See how the fire grows with each breath you take. Breathe deeply, the fire does not grow in height but in general size. It is creating a circle of fire around you. Know that you are safe in this circle of fire. The Fire cannot harm you, but is protecting you. Nothing exists but you and the circle of flame which has surrounded you.

Continue breathing deeply, with each breath you are filled with warmth, you are breathing in the element of Fire itself. Slowly the fire begins filling your being. Count each breath in, Keep this count, see this as a bead, how many breaths does it take for Fire to fill your being? Remember this number. The characteristics of fire have filled your being. What does it feel like to be filled with Fire. Where does the fire not burn brightly? Where does it burn out, smolder or burn too hotly? See these areas and what they correspond to. Mentally and emotionally allow the fire to help repair the damage and the fire will burn evenly and throughout.

Once your Fire is burning evenly and steadily, you are ready to project that element back out of your being.

Continue breathing evenly. With each breath you project a bead of fire. You will project the same number of beads of the element that you breathed in. With each exhalation of the element you remain balanced with this Element. Count again the number of beads, you must exhale exactly the same number of times you inhaled.

As before I still myself and close my eyes.  Each time I have done this exercise I always feel invigorated after it.  I see the campfire before me and with each breath it grows in size until it surrounds me completely.  Once I am fully circled I begin breathing in the fire allowing it’s searing warmth to fill my entire being. With each breath I become warmer and warmer until there was only fire and an awareness of spirit that expanded with the fire.  My awareness became passion, my breath destruction, my body life.  Energy imbalances burned away to ash and from deep within I felt alive and in every candle, every volcano and every burning fire.  From the ash left behind the world started anew.  Both terrifying and beautiful at once.  I became aware of myself slowly and remembered to breathe the fire out in the same number of breaths I brought it in.  The embers began to cool with each breath and my awareness was coming back to my home where I sat.  The sounds of the dogs and cats and my husband became once again at the front of my mind and the fires had been cooled.  The invigoration of spirit present but of body oddly at peace and content.

Have you tried this exercise?  Does it intrigue you?  What happens when you reach into your own awareness and bring fire forth.  For a few moments let the passion of fire, the destruction and fertilization for growth overcome  you.  Oh yes there is a need for me doing this regularly.  Tomorrow we will journey into water to see what the emotion and life brings to our balance.  Stay tuned. 😉

Bismuth Crystals are often “lab grown” and have the most amazing colors and formations. | Courtesy Sacred Mists Shoppe www.sacredmists.com

Bismuth forms crystals in formations like steps or pyramids due to an accelerated growth at the outside edges. The fantastic rainbow colors are due to oxidation on the surface. Natural crystals of this quality are rare, most available are laboratory grown.  While they may be “lab grown”, this does not diminish the energies of the mineral or it’s use in spiritual practices.

When used in a spiritual practice bismuth can help remove the blocks that we place in our path allowing for the relief of isolation, facilitating the feeling of connectedness and serenity.  If you are feeling disconnected from the world around you, your friends, family; bismuth is the mineral to help you work on that reconnection.  Place a piece of bismuth on your altar before a meditation and visualize yourself before the bismuth with your friends and family at the base of the bismuth formation and you at the top.  Visualize you stepping down the formation and as you reach them the connections renewed.

Bismuth is useful when experiencing change, providing for calmness, vitality and orderliness.

Celestite is such a peaceful stone, I thought I’d share mine with you. I’ve had this stone near me for quite sometime. This particular piece I purchased at my former local store The Crystal Garden, in Boynton Beach FL. Margaret has an amazing eye for beautiful gemstones and this cracked open geode piece spoke to me right away.

Celestite is also known as Celestine and can be found in clear, white, blue, green, yellow or gray colors. While these colors are all available the most common seen in stores is the blue variety.

Offering a gentle and uplifting energy, celestite can help raise your awareness of spirit and spiritual matters. I have found that having this on my desk during the day also helps me maintain a peaceful and joyful attitude. With this it helps balance out the energy fields of all those in the room and helps cleanse the throat chakra. Additionally, if placed on the third eye it can heighten your spiritual awareness and cleanse/open your third eye.

Celestite can be used to establish communication with the angelic realm and put you in contact regularly with angel helpers for this lifetime. It is also said that Celestite can help lead us towards enlightenment through the peace it will bring us along side divine love, which makes it a fantastic stone for meditation.

For me personally, I definitely find that my life is transforming day over day. A note of care of Celestite, keep it out of direct sunlight as the sunlight will leach the color from it. The crystals can be quite breakable so keep away from places it can be dropped or played with by small hands and paws.

A noted side-effect of having Celestite in my working space is an increased amount of creativity flowing from me. I have amazing crafty ideas when sitting at my desk and have made some beautiful beaded peaces while working with celestite.

Tonight I had planned on heading to bed at a decent hour so that I might not be so exhausted tomorrow.  Alas this is not how it is going to be.  I was nearly asleep when I was jarred awake by a muscle spasm. Lying there my mind started to wander through my day and everything that I have been doing as of late.  The Dark Night of the Soul that I have been going through has been intense.

I’ve been weighed down and in some ways feeling a titch bit lost in some respects. I have been doing some reclaiming of myself throughout this dark night things that I love doing.  In my spare time I have begun to blend Incenses and Oils for the Sacred Mists Spellbound Wearable Potions & Anointing Oils line.  To date we’ve had but two available that have been for sometime.  This is changing.  We will have Sabbats, Goddess, God, Esbat and Altar Oils available.  I completed the Goddess oil today.  The evaluation one ounce bottles will be shipped to the store and if Lady Raven loves them as I do, they will be added.  I will have coordinating herbal jars of incense & resin mixtures.  Each blend will be unique and exclusive to Sacred Mists.

A challenge that I have been dealing with is staying balanced in this crazy holiday time.  One would think that people would be more generous of spirit during the holidays but it seems to me they are more and more aggressive, rude and all around not nice to their fellow human beings.  When confronted with this horrific behavior I am reminded that I am a creature of spirit and growth.  I am trying to choose to rise above the petty behavior and return with smiles and kindness.  I want to be a good example of a Sacred Mists Priestess.

Tonight I have lit two candles on my desk.   The one shown above is my Goddess Affirmation candle, purchased at the  Sacred Mists shoppe, hanging on my altar oil cabinet are my Amethyst and Obsidian Prayer/Affirmation strand with the Triple Goddess Symbol in Silver.  To the right of my position I have my Sacred Mists Tradition Pillar burning directly  before my Freya statue.  Freya has been calling to me for sometime and I have been working to learn of this Goddess and  her ways.  She calls me to be her Priestess now and I am learning all about what that means to her and how to put this into my own path.

Freya is said to be a Goddess of Love and Fertility.  I have, in my own workings with her, discovered her to be a sensual Goddess.  She loves to be offered fresh, strongly scented flowers and likes to have beautiful music playing.  A part of my daily workings include playing or singing a Goddess Chant.  I am going to write one just for her, not something I am good at by any means but I feel it is appropriate.  She rules over the heavenly after life field, Fólkvangr, where she receives those who die in battle but do not go to Valhalla.  By her being associated with those who die heroically in battle, she is sometimes shown as a Valkyrie in the battle fields.  She radiates beauty and wisdom.

In my workings with her I am learning (as I did with Athena in past workings) when to choose my battles so that I might be victorious and not slain.  When I do fail, my choices leave lessons that resemble scar tissue and the part of me which has failed, rises above and becomes that of a heroically slain warrior for I have passed from what was to what is with great suffering and pain (of the heart or spirit).  She is also teaching me that I must love myself most completely.  Now while I do love myself and honor myself, I do have many things that I feel are failings.  Daily affirmations are helping me overcome this as are working on the failings to turn them into something more than just a piece of me which is overly criticized.

Tonight, as I finally begin to grow weary of the day once more, I will take these thoughts of Goddess, of Sacred Mists, of my Spirit to bed with me.  I will dream vividly.  I will find the answers hidden within the dream symbols that will help me find my way through the remainder of this Dark Night.  I walk the path of the Priestess for no reason other than it is a calling a duty that I must do and one that I am committed to.  I am further committed to walking the Priestess Path within Sacred Mists and in my community serving.

May the light of the Goddess shine to your heart, may she bring you peace, love, laughter and joy.  May your path be lit and your dark night be less frightening.  You are beloved and never alone.

Everyday is a hurried through the world kind of day.   Look around you and you will see people running from place to place with little thought about themselves, taking care of this errand, that thing that needed done or those people who need cared for.  Putting ourselves last has, it seems, become almost a national past time.  We look out for work, co-workers, family, friends and lastly ourselves.

This seems horribly off balance to me and one thing that we as spiritual beings can easily fix.  We are walking a spiritual path that encourages the use of meditation, magick and energetic workings to promote balance and care for ourselves and those around us.  Why then, is it we often do not think and take care of ourselves?

It seems my own waking moments are often take up with this worry about getting this task or project done, returning this call, helping out this person or getting through the work day with some semblance of sanity left in an otherwise insane world. 😉

Taking care of yourself can be quite easy and take up very little time in your day.  Back in my First Degree work at Sacred Mists, we were taught the steps of Ritual and to look at our daily routines for the steps of ritual within them.  Somewhere we’ve all moved on and forgotten how easy ritual can be.  We all start the day the same pretty much every day how is this not ritual?

Everyday I wake up, cuddle with my cats and pup for a moment or two.  I get out of bed, do the upstairs cat litter, wash my hands, splash my face, brush my teeth.  Time for a shower, get dressed, breakfast, hubby off to work.  Two days a week the pup stays home with me and three she goes to Daycamp for more playtime than I can give her during the day.

After the hubby goes off to work, my day varies a little depending on the day but it involves the crafting of paper or some other small crafting project that I have started, maybe some light email, some review on the Sacred Mists forums, then I settle down about a quarter till 10 for my day to start.  I light my altar candles (on my desk), a stick of incense and take a deep breath or three to focus on my day.

I work for a couple hours, take a lunch break then get back to work and might take a short afternoon break but often do not because I become so busy I forget.  Sometimes I forget to drink my water on my desk!  These forgets are easy to get past and fix.

Throughout the day, I’ve started taking one or two minutes to focus on my altar candle burning and will send a little reiki to whomever pops into my mind right then.  After this I will spend a moment to be kind to myself.  I will do a couple of deep breath exercises, get out a piece of my Sizzling Spell Paper and cut it into a strip only large enough for an affirmation.  Write my affirmation down and then light it. POOF. A kindness to myself.  It’s been maybe three minutes and I am feeling refreshed now.

Can’t light things at work?  That is OK.  Take a moment and close your eyes, do a deep breath exercise that will bring you back to center.  Don’t forget to smile when doing this!  Your spirit will thank you for the smile!

Get up to use the rest room?  Great take time to be kind to yourself while you are at it.  When washing your hands, look at yourself in the mirror and remind yourself (even silently if there are others around) that you are awesome!

Now…these are just a few ideas that have crossed my mind while writing today, what can you do in your day to make it more magickal AND take care of your own needs and spirit?

I have a long standing love affair with Labradorite.  It moves me.  It assists me through transitions.

Labradorite is a type of feldspar that crystallizes in the form of masses, grains and ‘tab’ crystals.  The colors of labradorite range from white, yellow, and grey with an amazing spectrum of colors that radiate from within from peachock blue, coppery red or golden rays.

Within labradorite you get not only the properties of feldspar but also protection of your aura, helps to keep the aura clear and balanced.  It assists in aligning the subtle bodies and enhances the connection between the physical and ethereal realms.

The energy facilitates the transformation of intuition into intellection thought that you can implement instructions which you may have been provied.  It assists you in traversing changes, attracting strength and perseverence.  It has been called the matriarch of the subconscious mind, providing instructions to those who use it in meditation on how to implement the inner messages received in the physical world.

Labradorite unites the self with the understanding required to both realize and achieve your destiny in this life, relieving insecurity and apprehension, all while enhancing faith and reliance on yourself.

My personal labradorite wand and window ‘egg’ piece pictured are two of my favorite stones.  The wand is fantastic for meditation.  I find that Labradorite connects me to the deeper mysteries associated with the crone or dark moon.  When I need to look within myself for answers, I use this wand in meditation.

When I want to infuse myself with the attributes of a gemstone, I would normally make an elixir with the stone.  You cannot directly do this with labradorite due to it’s chemical make up (containing aluminum and magnesium, which would make drinking the water toxic) however you can still make an elixir by placing the water in a glass or bottle of your choice and then placing the stone next to, underneath or above the bottle (with it being capped or protected from the water directly touching the stone/s).  I prefer to re-use a water bottle with cap and then can place it in the moonlight with my labradorite stones beneath and around it.  I re-use a water bottle so that it can be laid on it’s side. 🙂

Over the years I have found great peace working with labradorite and encourage everyone to learn more about this beautiful, magnificent stone.

Opal, or Pearl, Aura Quartz is created by bonding a clear natural Quartz crystal with a precious metal infusion of  pure platinum and silver, resulting in a powerful combination which fuses the White, Blue, Violet and Silver Rays into an iridescent display of Light, much like a rainbow shining on a sunny day.

The shimmering colors that highlight Opal Aura Quartz immediately bring thoughts of the celestine spirits, or angels to mind.  There is a serene and uplifting quality about Opal Aura Quartz, something of sweetness that stimulates the spirit and lifts both mood and spirit.  If using these stones in meditation, you can easily move beyond the physical and into the inner temple.  This is a place of purification and rest, in which spirit guides are present.  With use of this stone you can easily let go of your stresses and worries through active spirit use.

In your meditative state you can continue to work with Opal (also called Angel or Pearl) Aura Quartz to help with remembrance of past incarnations, insight into your spiritual purpose.  You will find the ability to channel higher knowledge, opportunity for spirit communications, attunement to beauty among the gifts that Opal Aura Quartz can bring to your meditation or environment.

I keep a piece of Opal Aura Quartz atop my desktop cabinet which houses my many oils with several other stones resting across the top.  By keeping the Opal Aura Cluster nearby I am ever reminded that I work with spirit, I choose to bring light to my day.  If I am under a particularly stressful day I will move this stone to the center of my desk so that I can take a few moments of deep breathing exercises to return to center.

Opal Aura Quartz brings to my day a sense of serenity and light, no matter what may be happening, I can lock onto the serenity and continue through anything.  I purchased my Opal Aura Cluster at Sacred Mists Shoppe in Napa, CA
