Five of Swords

The night fades.  The rising sun pierces the sky with blood tinged rays of dawn + the air is shattered by the cry of the battle horn.

The traditional meaning of this card is that of self-service, discord and conflict of interest.  The choices arrayed make it easy to profit and look to one’s own concerns as it feels as if the world is against you.

When I look at this card I see a warrior who has been fighting their shadow.  The shadow begins to consume the light of the warrior and he is left of two  minds.  Ever warring within.

The shadow must not be forced into the light nor must the light be forced into shadow.  A balance must be drawn.  If you look at the number of this card – 5 you see a synchronous energy.  One blade for each of the elements (Earth, Air, Fire, Water, Spirit).  This indicates balance enters soon and that it is hard won but you must be vigilant with your work in balance as the battle with the self and shadow self, never truly ends.
