A Weekend Away, At Home

This weekend past I had the amazing opportunity to have a sister of spirit and soul visit me in my home for the first time. It was to be a short weekend visit where I would take Monday off to do something and then take her to the airport etc.

To say the weekend was a whirlwind of activity is absolutely an understatement. Saturday started late as her first flights filled up fast (she flies standby). Finally arriving at almost 6pm, my husband and I picked up Raushanna at the Fort Lauderdale Airport, then picking up the pup at his parents house and heading to the house. Once we arrived home, we piled in and arranged things around then hit our favorite Mexican restaurant for dinner (yum).

Sunday was a pretty awesome day, we had brunch with some of my local friends at the Sundy House (where the picture above was taken), then back to the house. The hubs was not feeling well so he laid down. Raush and I sat around talking and talking and talking for hours. Ordered Chinese and then turned in early since I was super tired. (Early being 10pm – LOL).

Monday we had a few hours to hang out and visit at Flamingo Gardens before we had to drop her back off at the airport. It was a really good time.

Every time that I get any time at all with my dear sister of heart, it is fantastic. We become invigorated, we do magick and grow together. It is hard to put to words what happens so effortlessly and as if it were always there to happen. Our spirits are in sync and react so well together.

The Gardens were stunning, as always and rich with the joy of spring and magick in the air. Each aged and wizened tree held such spirit that it could be tangibly felt and learned from.

Joy lifts me up, delight and trust hold me high.

Right now the cosmos are gearing up for another Mercury Retrograde (starting on the 12th). Knowing that communications and such are going to go haywire, I feel that it is a good time to work on my own confidence and empowerment so that even when things go wonky I will be rooted firmly in myself to work through the toughest of challenges that Mercury may present to me.

Tuesday 3-6:

Burning this week on my altar is a Goddess Drop Candle from the Sacred Mists Shoppe. It is a dark burgundy and perfect for empowerment. I will burn my candle for two hours each day this week. Rosy Pink and Marigold Orange Color Magick Sizzling Spell Papers will be used throughout the workings of this week.

CONFIDENCE (on one side)
Light within, Shine throughout.

Today I have folded mine into a football shape and written my name on it. After it is lit with my empowerment candle I reflect on strength and confidence. I look within and find my core and anchor to it. As my candle burns for the two hours today I will know that I am valued and can hold my head high.

Wednesday 3-7:
Rosy Pink Color Magick Sizzling Spell Paper. On it I will write an affirmation (again you may use mine or write your own).

Beauty is a state of mind,
Love is a state of heart.
Beauty, a wonderful find,
Love within, never apart.
I love, I am loved.
I cherish, I am cherished.

This is all about love and self-love. With my candle lit I will reflect on the simple act of love and loving. I know that I cannot be loved unless I love and that includes loving myself. Today I will be gentle for the mistakes I will make.

I will work in perfect love and trust thinking of others as each task is completed.

Thursday 3-8:

Marigold Color Magick Sizzling Spell Paper. We are going to work on claiming our power today by using a chant I wrote previously and will write on my paper.

I trust myself
I think for myself
I act for myself
I speak for myself
I am myself.

Every action I take today will be done with confidence and knowledge that my actions will affect those around me and those that touch upon them. I recognize my place in the world around me and claim my actions, my power and my part!

Friday 3-9
This is our last day in our empowering work for the week and we will use Rosy Color Magick Sizzling Spell Paper to write our affirmation on today.

Beautiful Day rich with power,
Blessed Night filled with wonder.
Confidence rising by the hour,
Love and Beauty never to be torn asunder.
I walk in trust and love,
Soaring high through the clouds,
I walk in trust and love.

Today we bring it all together heads held high in confidence and empowerment. We own our actions, we own our interactions we are all empowered to be the change we want in the world and to grow!

As I continue to work everyday to strengthen myself in my path and get back into working with my path everyday, I find that by doing a little magick everyday is going a long way. I’ve done a little something everyday since Tuesday and shared it with Sacred Mists Fans on our Facebook page and with students by making it a Daily Challenge to help people LIVE the Path and not just study it.

I had personally fallen into the habit of not working daily within my path but simply going from task to task and frankly I felt the absence of spirit thoroughly. Today I took some time to reset my altar (and will probably change it again this weekend since I am not so thrilled with it) and actually made a video for the Sacred Mists YouTube channel to share my path and joy of the path with other people.

Today’s Magick focuses heavily on Wisdom, Knowledge and Will to be open to receiving it.

Thursday is all about wisdom and protection, classically you can see with the ruling planet Jupiter (which is great for money issues as th eruling planet of financial concerns), The magick of Jupiter will always make more of whatever you have so if you have nothing, this is not the best energy to work with. Colors for today are Purple and Royal Blue.

Today I want to grow what I have so I am going to work on wisdom through study. My altar candle is a rich purple (Witches Path from the Sacred Mists Shoppe). I’ve lit my candle on my altar and as it is nearing the end of life I am going to burn it all day. I have taken a little bit of the Power of Wiccae Oil (also from the Sacred Mists Shoppe) and dabbed some on my third eye, solar plexus, and a little on both sides of my neck. Third eye to absorb the wisdom, Solar Plexus to invoke my power and will and on the neck so that I may speak wisely today.

On small piece of Color Magick Sizzling Paper (lavender) I have written, you can use any kind of paper infusing it with purple energy or using a purple pen!

Today I draw Wisdom
Today I gain knowledge
May my course stay true
May my words & thoughts be just
(reverse side)

Lately, I have noticed that it seems more and more, people are looking towards magick to solve their problems. With a spell you can wish away and receive your deepest desires. Need more money? There’s a spell for that. Need a job? There’s a spell for that. Looking for love? Yep you guessed it, there’s a spell for that. There is a spell for pretty much anything and everything that you can think of and if there isn’t? Well you can write your own for it.

You’ve heard it before by more popular and widely known people. Magick does not grant wishes or solve your problems. Magick is the use and manipulation of energies to bring about results of what you need and want. Need something? Can you get it? Yes you can. Will magick HELP? Yes it will. Will magick do it for you? NO.

Magick resides within you and within everything around you. It is through your will that you can manipulate this energy and bring your desires to light and come to pass. You must own it. In order to own it you have to do the work in the mudane world along with it AND know in your heart and soul that you deserve what you are spelling for.

Sounds simple enough right? Well ownership is something that when it comes to our desires is something that we all have some degree of issue with. We own that we want but we don’t own that we deserve it. It seems to me that a great deal many people want something but ultimately do not feel they deserve it? Well did you work for it? Then you deserve it.

This is not to say that you are entitled to every whim and that you should treat the world with the degree of indifference I see in many people that the world owes them for they are breathing tax payers so you owe them. The mind set that the world owes you is bothersome and to some degree irritating for me. You want something, you deserve something then work for it and make it happen, just because you were born does not mean the world owes it to you.

In my own life I am working very hard to get into the mindset that I deserve to be prosperous and not working from paycheck to paycheck. Once upon a time I made more money than I thought I could spend, but spend it I did. I’ve since simplified my life and do not need nearly the same amount of money to keep me happy. While things may be tight I do manage to be able to take care of myself and my bills with no problems generally. I don’t have cushion should something unexpected happen but so far so good. I am building a cushion so that the worry is gone. I do this with the programs my bank offers to have a savings account and deposit $1 every time I use my debit card. Works wonderfully so far.

I’d like to dedicate this blog post in a way that I can maybe help whoever might be reading this. Reply with one thing that you need or could really use or just want. Let’s make a plan together to make that happen and re-enforce that with an affirmation plan and a little magick written just for you. Are you game?

The Promises of Spring

Imbolc has come and gone and the promise of spring continues to be seen in small ways in the world around me. Living in South Florida for most of my life, we do not have true seasons the way that many places have. We have HOT and not so hot, tempered with RAIN or no rain. It’s an interesting place to be when it comes to weather.

For the last week I have seen more rainy days than not. I am not at all saying this is a bad thing, I love a grey rainy day more than a sunny one most of the time anyway. Right now I see the promises of spring everywhere around me. The grass seems greener, the dandelions are blooming, the white flowers have disappeared from the grasses and the yellow is starting to appear in the trees.

Days like today (and those from earlier this week) give me reason to pause and look at what is happening around me in every way. Life is stirring and the world begins to wake up and feel renewed. It is from this renewal that I have again begun to feel the stirrings of deep transformation. The trials are nearly completed for this round. Over the last several years I have undergone a great many challenges. The least of them seem to be the career change that I took on nearly 3 or 4 years ago now. Time loses it’s hold on me after a while. More than anything I can look at myself now and see how very different I have become over the years.

Past hurts forgiven and in some cases fully pardoned. This has not been an easy road for me but one I am very thankful for. The next evolution of myself will come when I leave my comfort zone behind me and embark on a journey taking me across the country to where I know virtually no one and the certainty and comfort of life will be taken from me. It’s rather terrifying when you think about it.

As I try to eliminate the things in life that do not serve me I find that I have precious few things that I actually NEED. I have begun removing things bit by bit that are not needed, not used or simply not desired. This has been applying to not only things but toxic friendships as well. If you hurt me I don’t need you. If you lie to me, I don’t want you. If you care and are genuine with me then I love to have you in my life.

As the flames shrink to embers, let the wind come upon the ashes and blow them asunder. Be gone that which harms, be gone that which causes illness. Come to me peace, joy and fulfillment.

Magick and Band-Aids

Recently I gave up my television. That’s right I do not own a television anymore. When I get off work I go downstairs (out of my office and away from the computer), help make dinner if it is not made, have dinner with the husband. After dinner something magickal happens. I pick up my kindle, find my spot on the couch and sit down. I have read and re-read fiction books in the last few weeks with a voracious appetite. I’ve added back in my spiritual books and discovered something rather interesting.

A while ago, I started reading Coventry Magick by Jacki Smith of Coventry Creations. I have been a fan of Jacki’s work for a good many years. The company I work for has been selling her candles, oils and incenses for many years and quite simply I am an addict. There are few candles that I adore and I hate being without my Blessed Herbal Affirmation Candles or my Crystal Embeded candles (from a different Chandler) but right now I find I am on my last Evil Eye Witches Brew Votive while I wait on new candles.

I burn them every day for varied reasons on my altar at my desk. These actions are very much a part of who I am and how I walk my own path within Wicca. As I continue to evolve in my life I am finding that I have been band-aiding aspects of my path instead of truly growing and changing. How did I come to the band-aid realization? Remember that book I mentioned above? Yah well, inside it’s cover I have found a voice of experience that I can relate to on many levels that were unexpected to me. I sit and read the words and hear Jacki’s voice conveying the lessons and yes sometimes even smacking me upside the back of the head. Without the distraction of the computer or the TV, I have immersed myself in books once again. I create my own images of the scenes in fiction books. I have an imagination and I have truly started using it again. Next thing you know I will sit down and start writing again, if I don’t well I know that is a part of who I was but not who I am. Who I am is about RIGHT NOW not who I was or how I got here but RIGHT NOW. It’s time I started looking at those band-aids and start peeling them off so that the wounds I thought were there can heal or I can realize they aren’t there at all.

So what do you do when you start realizing your aura and energy may have several band-aids on it? For me, I am focusing on removing the band-aids that HOLD IN the doubt and uncertainty. I must own those emotions and move past them into full confidence and the Mistress of My Destiny. I must embrace the things that have occured in my life to shape my feelings and accept them as a part of who I am right now. I must release the things that do not serve me in a way that is positive.

The process that I am undergoing at home is in every way mirroring the 7 stages to transformation that is outlined early in the book. I can see each of these stages manifesting in my life right now. I am in the middle of a massive road opening shift in my life. It’s taking me through the process of removing STUFF that I don’t need to THOUGHTS and yes even people that do not serve me well in my life. I find encouragement in the lessons that I experience everyday and when I am feeling absolutely horrible and an emotional wreck…I remember that I need to shift on the downs to bring it back up and not get stuck.

Yesterday I was feeling horribly down about a major process going on at home and in life and the lack of movement. I felt discouraged and adrift in an endless sea of difficulty and “You Can’t”. Today I am freeing myself from the CAN’T with a little spiritual protection and cleaning to wash away the hurt in my heart. I did a beautiful cleansing with my shower and am building up my protection again. Next I move forward. That road will open up for me.

Here I am removing those band-aids, I am open, I am ready to receive the gifts of life, Deity and myself!

A Day Without Rain

I’ve had an interesting sort of ride in life lately. There is so much that is changing and evolving that sometimes it is very hard to keep up with it all. In the midst of the chaos of ridding myself of unneeded STUFF I am finding small joys in things I used to know and used to do again. I have found my crafting items and begun putting small kits together that are lovingly made and blessed. I am reading voraciously now that I have no TV. I am grading homework much faster. I am simply enjoying the gifts of being a Priestess and my life. It’s amazing when we find the things we left behind. We see them fresh and with a new perspective. We find never ending joy in the simple things in life and enjoy them with great potential for the magick that each holds within.

Magick? Yes! Everything I touch is laced with helpful energies. It is laced with love, joy, communication and blessings. Energies flow from my hands seemingly to never be quenched. This is my coming hunger for life. I can feel it edging in waiting. I am not sure exactly what it is waiting for but I feel it…just on the edges of awareness that something HUGE is coming my way and it’s going to shake my foundation. Once the shaking ceases I will be at the next step of my growth and evolution as a woman and Priestess. The alchemy of it all is staggering to think about.

For now, I will ponder what comes, I will live in the moment and enjoy each with a light heart.

Continuing on the days of the week magick as adapted from Goddess in the Office by Z. Budapest, we will pick up again with Tuesday.

Tuesday is all about Will, Ego and Humor. If you look at the work week in one way, it truly begins on Tuesday. Monday we get caught up from the weekend and lay the ground work for the week and how we want to spend our work time, we make our will known.

Tuesday, the second day of the work week was named after the Northern God, Tyr. He is the spirit of justice. Tyr’s nature is discipline and integrity and he is a spiritual warrior.

Romans assigned the planet Mars to Tuesday. Mars and it’s association with the Greek God Aries (Roman Mars) ties directly into governance of courage, aggression, confrontation, sex drive, boldness and military leadership. It is also associated with chemists, engineers, police, construction workers, butchers, dentists and metal workers. This is a day to get a lot done!

Tuesday’s Scent is Honeysuckle which is sacred to the planet Jupiter, the planet of expansion, wealth, communication and power. It combines quite well with the Mars energy of Tuesday. Honeysuckle is a powerfully feminine scent that feeds the Wild Woman within with messages of fulfillment. In the office this scent will establish an atmosphere of well being, wealth and prosperity. It will also increase your psychic awareness and potentially empathy so be gentle today as you are wide open with honeysuckle being used.

There are many gemstones that can help out in the office. The applications can be seen in worry stones, prayer/affirmation beads, and other similar items. Let’s take a look at Clear Quartz for today, the vibrations of quarts can be used for everything from healing, to relaxation to energy boosts. I keep quartz on my desk in a small point that I can draw on throughout the day as needed. If you need to be more subversive with your stones, you can hide them in a drawer, cabinet, behind a door, under your desk. You know it’s there and can draw on it with a simple thought no matter if other people see this or not. If you find you need it for calming place it in your drawer and open your drawer as needed to relax your mind.

When dressing for success on Tuesday let’s look at your colors. Red is a great color associated with Mars showing vitality, strength, desirability and life. Because Red is such a powerful color I use it in moderation as accents. Black is the color of authority and mystery. When wearing black you are saying to the world that you are wise, trustworthy and spiritual. You carry definitive opinions. Dark Blue is a color of protection. It will help prevent fatigue, help you remain focused, relaxed and feel more authoritative. If you are looking to show your strength, power and vitality, wear black slacks with a red shirt and black jacket. To show authority wear a dark blue suit (pants and jacket or skirt and jacket or just pants/skirt) accented with lavender to add a splash of peace and calm to the focus of the blue.

Spells for Tuesday should focus on Will and Justice, the office is always full of trouble. A good way to apply your will to set things along the right road is to harmonize and purify the vibrations of the office.

At home, in a small dish, soak in some spring water, some lemon verbena (fresh or dried will do fine). If you are unable to get the herb put a pinch of sea salt into the water. Lemon verbena is chosen as it is an herb that breaks of harmful energies. Sea salt as a close second is a wonderful purifier. Hold your hand over the water containing either herb or salt and recite (feel free to modify):

Water and Herbs cleaning and clearing. Washing away discord from the office. Let all who quarrel make up, let the stalls in project and work be released and revived. Joy and Life infused in our work, in the name of the Goddess, So Mote It Be!

Come to work early the next day before anyone is there and scatter the blessed water around the office by dipping a sprig of greenery (pine or a marigold from the garden work wonderfully) and using it as a sprinkler. Leave and come back so others can see you arrive as normally. When doing this wear a little sandalwood oil to give you a purifying boost when you return.

If you need to do this and are unable to do the above, an alternate is to make a cup of hot peppermint tea with a wedge of lemon in it. You can walk around the office greeting people with your mug in hand letting the mist of the tea act as your purifier.

Other spells you can do on Tuesday involve more specifics such as protection of your belongings, recovering stolen goods, job protection and fighting sexual harassment.

Reflections of days past

There comes a time, I believe, that everyone must take a step back and take stock of their life and what is going on around them. I do this pretty much every winter. I look at where I am, where I have come from, what I have learned and where I want to go.

It comes with only marginal surprise that I began 2012 with a purging of my household “stuff”. The last year was actually trying in every way one could think and I think I am emerging from this dark night with a new direction for my life and one that I am excited to be undertaking.

I have long dreamed of moving to the west coast (ever since my first visit in 2000 when work took me to Napa, Concord and Bodega Bay). There is no denying the lure that California placed on me in my subsequent visits. Lake Tahoe for vacation with a good friend, San Diego and Oceanside with some of my Coven-mates and finally back to Napa in 2010 for the opening of the physical location of the Sacred Mists Shoppe. I’ve been in Napa several times since then and at no time have I ever thought that I would not live there one day. In the depths of my soul I felt it and yearned for it.

Life is lining up to my dreams and this year we will finally make the trek West. As life lines up, I begin to purge my home of things I do not any longer need. In doing this I am given the opportunity for reminiscing and for realizing my journey. Over the years decisions have been made, lessons have been taught, fought and ultimately learned. Each of these reflect not only in the memories but in the “things” that I have gathered, stored, collected and kept.

A mug from a sales conference, memory of my former boss, paintings that enriched my days as I worked on them. The memories flood back to happier times, times of deep sorrow and times that simply cannot exist anywhere outside my memory. It’s nice to visit them and then send them along so that they remain a memory but not something I need to see often.

I’ve moved on in many ways from the person I was a dozen years ago. I no longer hold so much anger, peace fills my spirit more often than not and I find joy in the company of friends not in the company of things. Throughout this cleaning and purging process the glimpses of my former self shine as the lessons that each holds within it. It’s enjoyable to visit those lessons again and see how far I’ve come and how far I still have to go. This is a monumental move that is frightening and exhilarating at the same time. Excitement fills me as the days pass and I step closer to my goal of moving. I expect I will be blogging throughout the process and the lessons that I revisit each week. Yes this sounds good.

The longest night

Last night marked the longest night of the year as Winter Solstice came upon us, (and in my head I have Samuel L Jackson saying it “And Solstice came upon us with great challenges and magnificent changes”) and though I was working rather late I took time to attend the Sacred Mists Yule Ritual that was being led by Raushanna last evening and even though I knew the ritual before attending through the Third Degree submission process, I was amazed by the feelings that surrounded me. Sometimes, I do not at all connect in a ritual and sometimes I am blown away. Last night was the latter.

One of my biggest failures is that I am filled with self-doubt and self-defeating behaviors which create a vicious loop of me never being enough and not succeeding. Harmful self talk creates this horrific ribbon of where I feel I have failed or not done enough and it just keeps looping around and around. As light becomes reborn, I too am going to go through a rebirth. There are a great many transformations that are appearing in my life. Rebirth is on the horizon. Working with this transformative and birth energy, I release the fear of success and never being enough (so self doubt and self-defeating behaviors) so that within myself I light the spark of successes and goals achieved, the spark of creation and life so that all doubt will be erased from my spirit and heart.

The wording on this was quite intentional because in order for me to work through this and achieve successes where I wish I must change the way that I think, I must release the fears and change the harmful and self-deprecating behaviors and words to ones that fill me with confidence and allow what is inside to shine throughout.

Over the last several months I have been challenged time and time again with things that have threatened to change my perceptions and how I am with people and what I have to offer. Remembering that I will always do my best, I will never lie and I will always be there when needed. The changes are worth it, they cannot be born without pain.

I connect with the power of rebirth and light and infuse my life with the energy of Birth, with birth comes change, pain and much to rejoice in.
