Cherry Quartz is an amazing + beautiful stone.  There is a lot of discourse in the various gemstone and pagan communities about this stone as it is an infusion of stone and mineral that is ultimately, made by man. As this is the case with most “gemstones” that are made by man in a lab or studio setting, the dissenting opinion is that it loses it’s “magick + voice” from the natural order of the stones/minerals from which it is derived.

These are magnificent stones which are made through the fusion natural stone and mineral in what becomes a modern alchemical process, manifesting into a new stone that holds truly unique and beneficial qualities for your practice, spirit and life.

Cherry Quartz is crafted utilizing natural reconstituted quartz and cinnabar; remnants of the cutting and shaping of these two metaphysically powerful gifts of the earth. The resulting material is then melted and given its beautiful, energetic flashes of rich red in the clear quartz.  The flashes of cinnabar in the quartz create striations, feathers, vortex and cloud formations.  These formations within can add to the magick of the gem when looking at the shape.  In the pictured point I see many feathers adding the lightness of the bird kingdom as well as fire faerie races.

Through this alchemy, a stunning and truly powerful new stone is brought to life, yielding both quartz AND cinnabar properties.

Clear Quartz is one of the most versatile and abundant stones available. Three of it’s most used and key attributes are energy amplification, program-ability and memory. Unlike other stones, which carry certain relatively fixed properties, clear quartz can be “programmed” by focused intention to help achieve a goal or purpose.

As a stone of Light, it can bring heightened spiritual awareness to whomever uses, carries or wears clear quartz. It provides a clear pathway for higher vibrational frequencies to be transmitted. Sleeping with clear quartz can enhance the vividness of dreams. Quartz can encourage clarity, enhance communication with guides, amplify psychic abilities and stimulate all chakras.

Cinnabar has associations, even before this processing with spiritual alchemy. It is said to have been used to attract abundance in wealth and support of altruistic businesses. Cinnabar assists the spiritual alchemist by stimulating psychic transformation and aids in the manifestation of spiritual energy. It also enhances spiritual perception.

Together you get a beautiful + unique gemstone with powerful magick + meaning.

Cherry Quartz brings new hope, acts as an anti-depressant, relief from anxiety, and tension. It is further considered to be used as an energy stone and a powerful healing stone for the spirit. You may find that you have increased vitality, confidence and vision in seeing things in the “bigger picture”.

So this weekend was a pretty busy one…then again they all seem to be busy. I have started to really work with gemstones and some very personal workings that I started earlier this year. I am feeling a real difference.

This weekend I made a few decisions that I can share with you:

  • I will blog three times a week
    • Monday’s will be weekend musings
    • Wednesday will be Gemstones + Magick
    • Friday will be freeform whatever comes to mind.
  • Starting with the new moon tonight I am digging in deeper to some much needed shadow workings.
  • I wrote the ritual for tonight and it’s great. LOL
  • Daily House of Night Oracle draws are back on.

Aside from all of these decisions I am starting to feel the fog of an ongoing Dark Night of the Soul begin to lift up.  There is still work to be done but the fog is not as thick as it once was and for that I am grateful.  I am feeling some real joy in life and the world around me as the depression that has hung on in this dark night starts to alleviate some of its stranglehold.

I started preparing for guests arriving at the end of this month.  There is not a TON to do but there is enough that I want to do it in small chunks.  I got a lot of old dog toys tossed out, started going through some of the excess that is in the front room and will be doing some serious cleaning in the room that used to be the office.

All in all there is a lot of progress going on in both life and spirituality that seems to get kicked up on the weekends.  I’m digging it.

There are a number of things that affect our daily lives, while most of them we can honestly do nothing about.  There are things that we can control and they all surround your person.  You can control your energy, your attitude, your confidence and light.  The world around you can and will affect the things you can control.  Someone cuts you off in traffic, cuts in line, acts rudely and so on; these things will enter your sphere of joy and pop it like a bubble.  All of those things that happen to us are out of our control.  Where we go from the moment something “happens to us” is where our control steps in.

One of the things in my life is that I am fat.  I have been fat most of my life and it’s something I always have struggled with. During my struggles I have worked out to the extreme (swimming for an hour after an hour of cardio and/or weights).  I was “fit” but not thin to some degree.  I was thick.  Recently I decided, to stop striving for thin, to stop comparing myself to other women’s bodies.  I am my own, my body belongs to the spirit that is me.  I will never be thin and you know what?  GOOD!  I don’t need to be, to be awesome or beautiful.  All I need is health, love and happiness.

So now that I have made the decision to not try to be skinny, I define what health is for me.  Health for me is being able to walk without extreme knee pain or extreme back pain.  Health for me is being able to keep up with my pups, my family and my friends.  Health is a complete state of being where my body is as content as my spirit.

The next question is how to get to that place.  For me it’s a matter of finding balance in how I eat, what I eat and exercise.  In general, I tend to dislike working out for the sake of working out so I do things like mopping, cleaning, walking the dogs to feel like I am “doing something”.  This is proving to not be enough so I am going to start a workout routine a little something everyday.

I am not going to get all crazy about it, I am going to go with the flow.  I need fluidity in my life and path.  There is movement that goes in both directions.  Not only in weight and health but in the spiritual as well.  It begins small with daily meditations which include a moment of healing and strength sent to the world fur use in whatever fashion it is needed.  It continues with kindness, smiling and yes teaching.  In the quiet moments, I am able to sit, listen to the birds outside and find that space inside that whispers, flow with me.

Sometimes the voice is so soft that I can barely hear it over the din of my own thoughts which demand my attention.  The act of stillness can be quite difficult to achieve sometimes but I keep trying to get there to go with the flow that life takes me…without compromising myself.  This is where my path comes in and shares it’s light from within so that I can flow as a tide.  Not every time will things go my way, hell even half the time they don’t!  Just don’t give up.  I live with depression everyday.  I struggle in life, as do many others.  Your path is your own and your journey your own.  Take a moment to affirm that it is yours and that comparison does more harm than any good.

You are unique.  Your path unique, your experiences, everything.  Lean towards friends for support, when you need to vent remind them that you are not looking for answers but just an outlet and to please simply listen and provide hugs and empathy to their plight.  When we go with the flow, we can flow together for the highest good of everyone.  Yes I am babbly today, I apologize for that.  A cohesive thought process was not meant to be for this.  I simply went with the flow of the thoughts and yes I feel more peaceful.  Write.  Sing.  Dance.  Be Alive.  You are beautiful and wonderful.

Last week I started writing a little about animal magick and power animals.  In working with animal energies there are a couple of ways to do it.  When I began walking this aspect of my personal path, I decided to begin by working with a shaman to learn the ways of the Shamanic Journey.  The purpose of the Journey, in this case, is to descend into the lower world (there are three worlds lower, middle and upper).  I will talk a little about each world in just a moment.  Once you arrive in the lower world you are looking for a “sign” or the arrival of your primary power animal.  This is the totem or power animal that chose to be with you since your birth in this life.   This is a time of meeting.  There of course can be many more of these as you get to know the energies of this animal and what lessons they wish to teach you.

A little bit about the three worlds that you can visit during a Shamanic Journey and what they correspond to is in order.  Let’s start with the Lower world.  The lower world is your subconscious mind, where your inner child rules and has access to the mysteries surrounding your power animals.  The middle world is the conscious mind where you can work with the energies of the waking world via magick and journey.  The upper world is the divine mind, our connection to the universe, ascended masters and teachers as well as the Akashic Records.  This is of course a summarized bit of information on these three worlds.  If you are looking for a start into journeying I recommend Michael Harner’s Way of the Shaman.

In the manner that I journey, I do so to simple drummed music.  I am a fan of Michael Harner’s Shamanic Journey Drumming.  This is a link to the drumming CD that I use (I have it burned into MP3 and use my iPhone for immersion.  Journeying does not generally take a really long time and I try to limit it to the 20 minute session.  The music has a recall where the beat changes to recall you back to reality.

Before you begin, sit quietly to ground and center yourself.  State your intention to meet your power animal.  Once you are ready begin the music then visualize yourself near the entrance of a cave.  The cave is your entrance into the lower world where the spirits of power animals are discovered and where we work within the subconscious mind.  Visualize your progress down the entrance of the cave.  Descend down into the earth.  What you see will be just for you and just your journey so the surroundings of the cave and the descent will be strictly yours.  You may find yourself ending up in an underground meadow that looks like the world above, a forest or other fantastic landscapes.  You may wander around once you “arrive in the lower world” for a little while.  You may see several animals and creatures about.  The general thought on finding your power animal is seeing the same animal three times.  If you do then ask it if it is your power animal or totem.  Don’t be discouraged if you do not find an answer the first time in the lower world but try again later that day or the next day.  You will find your power animal.

Sometimes they are not trusting at first because we, as adults, have forgotten our connection to them and how to work with them.  Be patient with them and they will in turn be patient with you as you rekindle this long lost relationship. 🙂 Over the course of the next few days I will talk a little bit about each of my primary power animals, their energies and how I honor and work with them.

Today brings us to the “end” of the elemental workings as we focus on that of spirit.  What is spirit?  Spirit is the light and life that brings everything together.  Where does it come from?  What can it teach us?  Spirit is everything and nothing.  The breath of the universe and the spark of divinity that is in everything around us.  It is the alchemy that binds us, moves us, transforms us.  This brings us unity and magick and to the core of divinity.

Absorbing Spirit:

Close your eyes and see yourself sitting silently and alone in the center of a room with nothing in it.  You see the walls and the floor are completely devoid of any adornments and trappings.  It’s simply you and the empty space of the room.  Slowly you begin to realize that you are not in an entirely empty room, there is light twinkling in and out of spaces.  You continue breathing gently and purposefully and notice that the twinkling of light is increasing as you breath until you are encircled by twinkling lights.  Know you are safe in this circle of light it cannot harm you.  With this knowledge you realize you are being surrounded by the element of spirit, the light of that and the universe protect you.

Continue breathing deeply and with each breath, you breathe in the element of spirit.  The light of spirit begins to fill your entire body filling you with an amazing warmth and weightlessness, count how many breaths it takes until you are completely filled with the element of spirit.  What does it feel like to be filled with spirit? Where does the spirit not move cleanly through you Where does it become broken, where does it not exist or move too quickly? See these areas and what they correspond to. Mentally and emotionally allow the element to help repair the damage and the element will exist evenly and throughout.

Once spirit is flowing and pulsing fully within you, you are ready to project it back out of your being, thankful for the blessing of balance it has given you.

Continue breathing evenly. With each breath you project a bead of spirit. You will project the same number of beads of the element that you breathed in. With each exhalation of the element you remain balanced within this element.

Today marks the final day in the elemental work we’ve been doing and I must say that I feel much more balanced than I did when I started this little project out.  Today I feel light hearted, free and filled with joy.  There is a lot to do (like any day) but even the crankiest thing will not affect me.  This process will be one that I do monthly going forward and perhaps more than one element a day not sure but it will be ongoing.  I definitely feel different.

Have you been following along?  Have you been joining me in these exercises?  How do you feel?

I’ve gotten “caught” up in my posts so that none are missing, despite the one being a day late for yesterday’s Water post.  Today I am working with Earth.  Earth, happens to be my weakest element.  There is something very smothering about it in many ways and so controlling.  I have never been able to “completely let go” and soar because Earth seems to just hold on.

What is the element Earth?  Aside from being our bodies, our home and filled with wonder?  Earth grounds us, protects us and shelters us.  Earth is a great provider.  Our food is of the earth, we are enriched by it’s beauty, we are in awe of the destructive forces it can unleash upon us.

Absorbing Earth:

Close your eyes. See yourself sitting calmly in nature (someplace where you can touch the ground such as a forest, cave or meadow). Nothing exists but you Earth around you. Feel the texture and weight of the Earth around you. See how the Earth moves with each breath you take. Breathe deeply, Earth does not become agitated , but appears to be swirling gently around you. It is creating a circle around you. Know that you are safe in this circle of earth. The earth cannot harm you, but is protecting you. Nothing exists but you and the circle of earth which has surrounded you.

Continue breathing deeply, with each breath you are being filled with the Element, you are breathing in the element itself. Slowly the Element begins filling your being. Count each breath in, Keep this count, see this as a bead, how many breaths does it take for Element to fill your being? Remember this number. The characteristics of Element have filled your being. What does it feel like to be filled with earth? Where does the earth not move cleanly through you Where does it become broken, where does it not exist or move too quickly? See these areas and what they correspond to. Mentally and emotionally allow the Element to help repair the damage and the Element will exist evenly and throughout.

Once your Element is flowing evenly and steadily, you are ready to project that element back out of your being.

Continue breathing evenly. With each breath you project a bead of Earth. You will project the same number of beads of the element that you breathed in. With each exhalation of the element you remain balanced with this Element.

This exercise is always difficult for me.  I always feel as if I am being suffocated.  As a result of that it takes me considerably longer to “fill” myself as I have to take it slowly in order to keep the panic of suffocation at bay.  One of the changes I did with this exercise is instead of the “movement” I decided to fill myself and look for cracks or fissures in the earth that has filled me.  I looked and began focusing on the energy centers of my body that exhibited a less than full amount of earth and began working to fill that by adding soil to the whole and shifting it around until the fissures closed.

I think with time this exercise will become easier as the more I work with the earth element the more comfortable I will become with it.  Maybe a few more times and I won’t have a near panic attack. *laugh*

I missed writing yesterday, I did the work but never got a chance to get to the laptop to write about it.  The day was quite good in the way it all worked out and sometimes computer free days are nice. 🙂  As I continue working through the elements, yesterday was Water.

Water is a great balancer for me.  When I am feeling “too hot” or in general off kilter Water always balances me right out.  So what does water control?  Well there are a lot of thoughts here rolling around.  The body is comprised of a majority water and “liquid” cells.  Water lubricates.  Water is the giver of life, without it we could not survive.  Water is emotion, fluid and joyous.  As with the previous two exercises I used my absorption method from my First Degree training at Sacred Mists.

Absorbing Water:
Close your eyes. See yourself sitting calmly near a body of water. Nothing exists but you and the water, enter the water. Feel the weight of the water around you. See how the water moves with each breath you take. Breathe deeply, water does not become agitated , but appears to be swirling gently around you. It is creating a circle of water around you. Know that you are safe in this circle of water. The water cannot harm you, but is protecting you. Nothing exists but you and the circle of water which has surrounded you.

Once your Element is flowing evenly and steadily, you are ready to project that element back out of your being.

Continue breathing evenly. With each breath you project a bead of Water. You will project the same number of beads of the element that you breathed in. With each exhalation of the element you remain balanced with this Element.

From the base exercise (above) I made even more modifications today.  I was out and about doing my weekend walk with my husband and pups along the waterfront & ferry terminal.  Due to the hustle and bustle about me I made this a little shorter of an exercise.  I took a few moments of “me” stretch time and sat along the guard rails while they walked on ahead.  I closed my eyes and breathed in the water of the Bay.  The water here is a little different than I am used to so the inner buoyancy that I received was significantly more.  My emotions bobbed up and down with each breath and soon I was completely filled up to the brim.  The emotions floated in this water and slowly became saturated.  They were “weighed” down so that they were more palpable and easier to work with.  As I ended this exercise I breathed out the water in the same breaths as in.  When it was all left I felt cleansed, balanced and blissful in heart.

Would I do it this way again? Yes I think so.  It might have been a little more effective than previously done in fresh water baths and pools.  I felt peaceful and delighted and remained that way for the rest of the day.

In continuing the theme of working with the elements, my next step is that of Fire.  As with yesterday I begin by doing the fire absorption exercise that I modified from my first degree training at Sacred Mists.  These exercises are actually quite good to maintain some balance within the elements and within your body.  I recommend doing them regularly and am working on adding them back into my practice for at minimum monthly to help keep my balance in place and to gain strength in working with each element.

Absorbing Fire:

Close your eyes. See yourself sitting calmly next to a camp-sized fire. Nothing exists but you and this fire. Feel the warmth of this fire. See how the fire grows with each breath you take. Breathe deeply, the fire does not grow in height but in general size. It is creating a circle of fire around you. Know that you are safe in this circle of fire. The Fire cannot harm you, but is protecting you. Nothing exists but you and the circle of flame which has surrounded you.

Continue breathing deeply, with each breath you are filled with warmth, you are breathing in the element of Fire itself. Slowly the fire begins filling your being. Count each breath in, Keep this count, see this as a bead, how many breaths does it take for Fire to fill your being? Remember this number. The characteristics of fire have filled your being. What does it feel like to be filled with Fire. Where does the fire not burn brightly? Where does it burn out, smolder or burn too hotly? See these areas and what they correspond to. Mentally and emotionally allow the fire to help repair the damage and the fire will burn evenly and throughout.

Once your Fire is burning evenly and steadily, you are ready to project that element back out of your being.

Continue breathing evenly. With each breath you project a bead of fire. You will project the same number of beads of the element that you breathed in. With each exhalation of the element you remain balanced with this Element. Count again the number of beads, you must exhale exactly the same number of times you inhaled.

As before I still myself and close my eyes.  Each time I have done this exercise I always feel invigorated after it.  I see the campfire before me and with each breath it grows in size until it surrounds me completely.  Once I am fully circled I begin breathing in the fire allowing it’s searing warmth to fill my entire being. With each breath I become warmer and warmer until there was only fire and an awareness of spirit that expanded with the fire.  My awareness became passion, my breath destruction, my body life.  Energy imbalances burned away to ash and from deep within I felt alive and in every candle, every volcano and every burning fire.  From the ash left behind the world started anew.  Both terrifying and beautiful at once.  I became aware of myself slowly and remembered to breathe the fire out in the same number of breaths I brought it in.  The embers began to cool with each breath and my awareness was coming back to my home where I sat.  The sounds of the dogs and cats and my husband became once again at the front of my mind and the fires had been cooled.  The invigoration of spirit present but of body oddly at peace and content.

Have you tried this exercise?  Does it intrigue you?  What happens when you reach into your own awareness and bring fire forth.  For a few moments let the passion of fire, the destruction and fertilization for growth overcome  you.  Oh yes there is a need for me doing this regularly.  Tomorrow we will journey into water to see what the emotion and life brings to our balance.  Stay tuned. 😉

I am revisiting my roots in daily practice and peace.  In order for me to make it through this holiday season and all the changes that are lined up for life, I need to have the stability of my daily routines and spiritual path.

My miniature altar set next to my workspace. It is filled with things that I find bring me a sense of peace, strength, energy and happiness.

My miniature altar set next to my workspace. It is filled with things that I find bring me a sense of peace, strength, energy and happiness.

I spent some time on Saturday cleaning up the table that I work at for part of my workday and resetting my “mini” altar that consists of my box that contains my shadowscape deck and some crystals, my wand and a candle.  In order for me to be at peace I need to start with my environment.

This morning I put together a rolling cart that will be kept by the table I work at.  Contained within the drawers of this cart are things such as my makeup, candles, candle holders, incense and misc. magick items that I will regularly use.  A part of this will be to make sure that I do not leave my spirit in the dust while “stuck” in mundania.

As a result of the clean up and such, I am reviving my daily affirmation card practice.  Today I pulled Justice.  “I am truthful with others and myself.  I take full responsibility for my choices.”  An interesting way to get this started as being honest with myself was how this sort of all started.

Justice - I am truthful with myself and others. I take full responsibility for my choices and actions.

Justice – I am truthful with myself and others. I take full responsibility for my choices and actions.

The way that this practice works for me, is simple and one that I adore doing.  Each day I will pull a single card from the shuffled stack.  once that card is pulled I will take a few moments to explore the visuals of the card and then read the affirmation on it.  I’ll leave the card out for the entire day then the next morning before I pull a new card, I’ll put it face up on the bottom of the deck.  Once I reach the first face up card I’ll reshuffle and start the practice again.   There are only “Major Arcana” inspired cards so that’s less than a month of affirmations.  Generally, they have been pretty timely and right for my day.

This is just one of the many things I am working on to bring myself back to life.  After everything that has recently happened is said and done I need to pull my bootstraps up and not let it keep me down.  I’ve been down long enough now I get up and keep moving.  This week will be busy as all get out but I am still going to do this daily.  I’m already feeling much better than I was last week with the few minor changes I’ve made and the organizing and clutter clear is helping even more.

Celestite Crystal Geode/Sphere broken open to reveal a truly stunning blue crystalline structure inside.

Celestite Crystal Geode/Sphere broken open to reveal a truly stunning blue crystalline structure inside.

Celestite is such a peaceful stone, I thought I’d share mine with you. I’ve had this stone near me for quite sometime. This particular piece I purchased at my former local store The Crystal Garden, in Boynton Beach FL. Margaret has an amazing eye for beautiful gemstones and this cracked open geode piece spoke to me right away.

Celestite is also known as Celestine and can be found in clear, white, blue, green, yellow or gray colors. While these colors are all available the most common seen in stores is the blue variety.

Offering a gentle and uplifting energy, celestite can help raise your awareness of spirit and spiritual matters. I have found that having this on my desk during the day also helps me maintain a peaceful and joyful attitude. With this it helps balance out the energy fields of all those in the room and helps cleanse the throat chakra. Additionally, if placed on the third eye it can heighten your spiritual awareness and cleanse/open your third eye.

Celestite can be used to establish communication with the angelic realm and put you in contact regularly with angel helpers for this lifetime. It is also said that Celestite can help lead us towards enlightenment through the peace it will bring us along side divine love, which makes it a fantastic stone for meditation.

For me personally, I definitely find that my life is transforming day over day. A note of care of Celestite, keep it out of direct sunlight as the sunlight will leach the color from it. The crystals can be quite breakable so keep away from places it can be dropped or played with by small hands and paws.

A noted side-effect of having Celestite in my working space is an increased amount of creativity flowing from me. I have amazing crafty ideas when sitting at my desk and have made some beautiful beaded peaces while working with celestite.
