Happy Friday, everyone! This week I have actually used a spread to forecast our week ahead. It’s not a huge one, but It felt right, so we’re gonna take a little look see and discover what we’ve got in store for us.
Divination Method: The Sacred Circle Tarot
Card(s) Drawn: 3 of Wands, Ace of Discs, Queen of Wands
Key Word(s): Foundation (3 of Wands), Abundance (Ace of Discs), Illumination (Queen of Wands)
My Interpretation: First let me explain the simple set up of this spread. Card 1 represents the Situation, Card 2 represents a Challenge, and Card 3 represents Advice to heed or Action to take regarding the 1st two cards. Now, let’s get to it!
The Situation is found in the 3 of Wands. Things are basically good. The Fires of creation have been kind, and things have panned out as of late. Because of this, there is a sound foundation to build upon for the future. Be sure to note, however, that even the strongest foundations require maintenance – so the hard work is not over. Be aware of things and and don’t be surprised if you’ve got to change things up a bit. The foundations that are best able to survive a shake-up are those that have the ability to be a bit flexible.
The Challenge is the Ace of Discs. It may sound odd that the Abundance card is seen as a challenge, but “Too much of a good thing” really is a thing. 😉 This card suggests that the energy for the coming week, much like Earth is ripe for nurturing creation and bearing the fruit of it. Whether that be the creation of financial opportunities, manifestations of artistic urges, the start of a passionate relationship, etc…. All of these things are awesome things. They are so awesome, in fact, that it can be easy to let ourselves get carried away in their super strong currents and lose sight of what is truly important. We must remain grounded in that foundation and not allow ourselves to be swept away and distracted by all “the shinies”.
Advice is found in the form of the Queen of Wands. To me, she embodies the qualities of the Goddess Brighid. She is Queen of the Hearth…Igniter of Passions…Source of Creativity…Protector of Loved Ones. She appears in this spread to remind us that while all of those things mentioned in the Challenge above are important (which is evident due to the fact that she represents them), it is also important to keep the Fires of the Spirit burning. She is here to lead by example. She shows us that it is possible to “have it all” if we maintain a balance by remaining anchored in our Spirit & Faith. Be true to yourself…and if things get out of hand, take a time out, go within and: Be Good to Yourself. (Yes…it’s time to cue Journey.)
Yes, I’m aware that this Foresight Friday post is actually getting to you on Saturday. I apologize for the late posting, but my brain just wasn’t being cooperative and forthcoming with the thinking and word making yesterday. I did pull the card, I just wasn’t able to form a cohesive sentence, lol. So, without any further delay, here’s what we’re dealing with for the week of 10/3/15 – 10/9/15.
Divination Method: The Witches Tarot
Card(s) Drawn: Two of Swords
Key Word(s): Opposition, Compromise
My Interpretation: So, perhaps things haven’t gone so well during this Mercury Retrograde. All those plans of being introspective and going inward may have been trumped by interactions that just plain old disrupted our Zen. That’s ok, I’m certain we’re not alone in this.
The Two of Swords tells us that any conflicts we have been having are currently in the midst of a cease fire. A peace has been restored…albeit a fragile one. Perhaps you have reached an impasse…or are choosing to pretend things are fine…or you’re just plain tired of fighting. Whatever the case, the good news is the carnage (physical, emotional, spiritual…etc.) is no longer actively occurring.
I doubt that the situation is over, but the Two of Swords is basically telling us to cool our proverbial jets for the moment and just let sleeping dogs lie. We’re in the final week of Mercury’s Retrograde cycle, and it’s just plain old better to leave well enough alone right now. Instead, try to relax, and maybe do something else that will take your mind off of the situation entirely. Enjoy the break from whatever it is…and find as much balance within yourself, and in your daily life as possible.
There are probably things you still wish to say or do, but this week is truly NOT THE TIME. Wait it out for a bit. You’ll either realize the situation isn’t nearly as dire as you perceived it to be, or you will find the proper way to deal with it.
Hang in there folks, the 9th is the last day of the Retrograde…Until then: Proceed with Caution.
Divination Tool Used: Sacred Circle Tarot
Card Drawn: Knight of Cups
Key Word(s): Movement
My take on this card: This coming week is filled with opportunity. It is not, however filled with patience. It is the time to Seize the Day, Jump at the Chance, Lose Yourself in that special moment, Say Yes to the Dress…you get the idea. The thing you need to keep in mind is, should Opportunity come a-knockin’ you need to decide on the spot. Either snag the chance to do whatever, or risk missing out and having yet another moment to make you want to travel back in time and kick yourself in the arse (Hey, we’ve all got those moments, but why add another one to the pile???)
The image on this card includes a Knight standing in a river…he represents that opportunity that comes around…the river suggests that things shall be moving quickly and that things will have a deep spiritual and emotional impact.
This nifty little card also holds the image of an apple tree and….AN OTTER!! 😀 Both of these images are related to knowledge and wisdom. Apples are known as the “fruit of knowledge” and, in Irish Celtic lore, otters are known as guides and guardians of spiritual knowledge & wisdom.
All in all, it would seem that the recurring theme of my Wednesday Wisdom posts has been preparing us for the coming week. With that in mind, I shall leave you with a message that is on a new pair of socks I purchased while on vacation last week…as it should pretty much be everyone’s mantra next week.
Friday is upon us once more, and that means it’s time for me to see what lies ahead for us in the coming week. For me, this week has been a struggle…lots of minor frustrations, and a lack of “get up and go”. I was frequently taking moments, breathing in the fresh air to re-invigorate myself with the week’s Coffee energy. Truth be told, there was also MUCH imbibing of caffeinated beverages to keep this Pixie’s behind moving.
So, what is it we have to look forward to next week? Let’s find out.
Divination Tool Used: Sacred Circle Tarot
Card Drawn: 8 of Discs, Reversed
Key Word(s): Focus, Perspective
My take on this card: The imagery of this card is 8 discs, 7 of which have been intricately carved. It indicates that there is a project underway…a project that has been taking a great deal of your attention.
The fact that this card was drawn in the reverse indicates that you may be focused a little too much on the details of what you are doing. It’s time to take a step back and take a look at the “Big Picture”. Think of it this way, if the devil (aka: the problem) is in the details, then perhaps enlightenment (aka: the solution) can be found with a change of perspective.
Look at the situation from a different angle. Are you using the right approach? Are you trying to control the situation a little too much? Are you using the proper tools? It might be time to break out of your comfort zone, use an unorthodox method, or just go with the flow and see where things go…rather than trying to force things to go your way.
The 8 of discs reversed also indicates that you may wish to use caution with your finances and try to curb your spending. Income is likely to be coming in in small increments, and saving what you can is the prudent move at this time. I’m not saying you can’t have any fun…just try not to blow all your cash all in one place.
So, get on out there and gain a little perspective! Hopefully, you’ll find that – much like the view of the Earth from space – things look a hell of a lot better…*cue Bette Midler*…from a distance. 😉
Several months ago I was at a friend’s place and she was showing me her Tarot decks. We went through the deck and she was pointing out what she loved about them, and I was commenting on the imagery of various cards. It wasn’t any sort of life-altering conversation, just two witchy women hanging out and relaxing.
Then, something happened. She was looking at a particular card and was telling me how she thought it was a good representation of me, which I found interesting…and really rather accurate. Then she started to pick up the cards. As she gathered the deck from its scattered state and returned to an orderly stack, I got one of those little “nudges” to the center of my brain.
I apparently had one of those looks that meant I was up to something, when my friend says – in a somewhat accusatory tone – “What?”
I felt a smirk cross my face just as a twinkle entered my eye…I reached for the deck…closed my eyes…focused, and cut the deck with a “Boom!”. “What’s that?” she queried. “THAT”, I replied, “is your card. The card that is you, right now.”
The crazy thing is….it was dead freaking ON! We were filled with that joy and disbelief that often accompanies those moments when your beliefs are reinforced.
I figured this was an isolated incident, but I have since been able to do this accurately on many occasions since. I think it’s pretty awesome. I have never been one to do traditional spreads, I pull a card or cards whenever I feel compelled to do so. This is similar to that, as I do it for someone when I am compelled to do so. It seems to give people the right amount of insight, as well as a reminder about certain aspects of themselves they may be forgetting at that moment. So far, they’ve all been very positive…but I’m sure it will someday give somebody a well needed “ego check”, hehehe.
So there it is, my little “accidental” talent. Nothing Earth shattering, but I felt the need to share it for this first ever Foresight Friday. Is there anything “unusual” that you do in the realm of Divination? Anything talents you may have stumbled upon purely by accident? I’d love to hear about them if you care to share. 🙂
Going forward, I will use this time to pull a card – or cards – to represent the week that is to come. I won’t always be using my Tarot decks, as I also use Goddess Guidance cards, Karma cards, Animal Wisdom cards…and sometimes, my Witches Runes (or whatever other method I decide to try).
See you next time, folks!

Hello! I’m back! I know, I know, you were starting to wonder if I’d forgotten about this place of mine again; but rest assured I’ve been thinking of it often.
Anyway, I have started studying the Major Arcana of Tarot, and decided the best way for me to remember it all (I’m hoping) is to write about it, so get ready to hear from me a lot as I go through the Journey of the Fool.
So, as I was looking through the cards again yesterday the phrase “A fool and his money are soon parted” came to mind. Now, once upon I time I used to take this to be along the lines of “There’s a sucker born every minute”. But, this isn’t necessarily so, if we think of the Fool in the terms of the Tarot.
The phrase makes one think that the fool is someone with too little intellect to realize they are spending money on something that is worthless, or a scam. This isn’t always the case, however.
“A fool and his money are soon parted”
The Fool may be naive, and perhaps even ignorant to certain knowledge, but this does not mean that he lacks intellect. Sometimes a fool spends money on things, not because they believe the item is of great value, but simply because they are willing to splurge in order to have a good time. They are carefree and don’t necessarily feel the need to be cautious about finances. The fool throws caution to the wind and goes blissfully on their way, an yes, perhaps spends a bit freely. So, there is truth to the phrase…it’s just not always a bad thing! 🙂
To be a fool is to be embarking on a new journey. The excitement and anticipation of all that is to come puts a spring in your step, and a song in your heart. It is to be innocent, and to be in a state where all is new and fills you with a sense of wonderment.
I think that perhaps we should all try to be the Fool a little more often. We should just stop taking ourselves so seriously, and try to look on the world with new eyes. I think think we’d all be better for it.
Well, that’s my little epiphany for today. See ya again when I take on The Magician!
