Divination Method: The Goddess Guidance Oracle
Card(s) Drawn: Vesta
Key Word(s): Home
Basic Message: “Your household situation is improving, either through a move or a healthy change in the occupants.”
My Interpretation: Vesta is the Roman Goddess of the Home & Hearth. She is a fire Goddess that brings both literal & emotional warmth to our homes. This is precisely what we should all focus on in the coming week. The proverbial “They” say that “Home is where the heart is”, if that is indeed true, then our heart is also where our home is.
Let me explain what I mean. Your outward environment effects your inner environment just as much as your inner environment effects the outer. I guess you could revisit the one thing I said in Wednesday’s post about finding your sparkle: “Your world won’t sparkle unless you do”. So what does that mean in regards to this? Well, it’s time to focus on finding that balance between your inner and outer environments. If you’re feeling very at home and content in your own skin, make sure where you spend your time reflects that. If you’re having a bit of trouble feeling that comfort, change your environment to encourage those feelings. It can mean cleaning out some clutter so you feel as though you can breathe. It could be rearranging the furniture, painting a room, designing & installing an art feature on your gigantic living room wall, or even something as simple as lighting some candles and listening to your favorite music. A calm, joyful, peaceful environment will coax the same feelings from within your heart. Let the fire of the candles – or of the fireplace – burn away the cold and negative (figuratively, people…Pixie does NOT want you to set fire to yourself or your home, lol).
All in all, this is a week to feel safe and loved. Some may discover that they are finally “feeling at home” for the first time in a long while. This may be due to an actual move, or perhaps a more symbolic move, such as a shift in thinking in regards to ones place in the world. Remember that “feeling at home” does not always involve a physical place…but is sometimes a feeling that is evoked by certain individuals or experiences.
Home implies intimacy, the kind that goes beyond – yet, may also include – the physical.
Home is comfort, safety, warmth, laughter, and love.
Home is where we often long to be when things get tough.
Every once in a while, life and its events get the better of us. Sometimes we let ourselves get bogged down in the stress of work and tasks that we forget to have fun. Sometimes things in our relationships don’t go as we’d hoped. Sometimes these things not only make us a little cranky…but we may also become withdrawn…or forget our dreams, how to relax & have fun…or even feel our self-worth slipping away.
When all this happens, we lose our spark. That little twinkle in our eye that tells the world we’re ready to take it on, and that it better watch out, because you’ve got some mischief up your sleeve!
It can be hard to get it back, that lovely little glint…but we can get it back. It could be as simple as hearing the right song, or string of songs, on the radio (or whatever musical device you happen to be listening to). It could be taking a few days to reconnect with old friends. It could just be getting away for a couple hours of peace and quiet so you can actually have an uninterrupted thought. A movie line, a song lyric, an incredibly astute comment by…anyone.
It can happen in many ways, sometimes we seek it out, other times it just smacks us upside the head and lets us know it’s back. lol Whatever the case, if that sparkle shows up, you’d better hang on to that sucker! That spark is what helps us to feel ALIVE! It’s what helps us find the humor in even the darkest of situations. It’s what attracts Joy into our lives.
My sparkle ran away for a few days…partly because I had to say farewell to someone I’d prefer was physically in my proximity on a day to day basis (aka: Bestest Friend in All the Land), partly due to being deficient in Vitamin D. I found it today. I upped my vitamin D, heard some of my jams on the way to work, and realized that he may be far away, but he’s always with me (So close, no matter how far…). Besides, he just recently got his own sparkle back…and remembering the glint reappearing in the eyes of my personal scoundrel (It’s a term of endearment, promise, lol) well, it made me smile. I was being a little selfish…a bit of a pouty pixie, to be honest, and I had to remind myself that everything isn’t about me.
So, if your life has gotten to be a little lackluster, start trying to see if you can find your sparkle. Trust me, it will make a WORLD of difference. ?
If any of you are like me, then you’ve been looked at as kind of an oddball for most of your life. It hasn’t been an unpleasant thing (most of the time). My nearest and dearest family, friends, and co-workers have lovingly referred to me as weird, odd, goofy, unique, bonkers, crazy, unusual, etc., etc.. I don’t mind, because they’re entirely correct! LOL I’ve always had a different way of looking at things, and that just means that life with me is anything but boring. 😉
It also means that I’ve had more than one chance to reenact this scene from The Craft:
Nancy and the girls pushed the boundaries of weirdness til they burst, but being weird in and of itself is nothing to be ashamed of. There’s a quote I recently came across that perfectly describes why that is so.
So go ahead, Be a Weirdo! Keep showing others how they can see things a bit differently. 🙂
Happy Friday, everyone! This week I have actually used a spread to forecast our week ahead. It’s not a huge one, but It felt right, so we’re gonna take a little look see and discover what we’ve got in store for us.
Divination Method: The Sacred Circle Tarot
Card(s) Drawn: 3 of Wands, Ace of Discs, Queen of Wands
Key Word(s): Foundation (3 of Wands), Abundance (Ace of Discs), Illumination (Queen of Wands)
My Interpretation: First let me explain the simple set up of this spread. Card 1 represents the Situation, Card 2 represents a Challenge, and Card 3 represents Advice to heed or Action to take regarding the 1st two cards. Now, let’s get to it!
The Situation is found in the 3 of Wands. Things are basically good. The Fires of creation have been kind, and things have panned out as of late. Because of this, there is a sound foundation to build upon for the future. Be sure to note, however, that even the strongest foundations require maintenance – so the hard work is not over. Be aware of things and and don’t be surprised if you’ve got to change things up a bit. The foundations that are best able to survive a shake-up are those that have the ability to be a bit flexible.
The Challenge is the Ace of Discs. It may sound odd that the Abundance card is seen as a challenge, but “Too much of a good thing” really is a thing. 😉 This card suggests that the energy for the coming week, much like Earth is ripe for nurturing creation and bearing the fruit of it. Whether that be the creation of financial opportunities, manifestations of artistic urges, the start of a passionate relationship, etc…. All of these things are awesome things. They are so awesome, in fact, that it can be easy to let ourselves get carried away in their super strong currents and lose sight of what is truly important. We must remain grounded in that foundation and not allow ourselves to be swept away and distracted by all “the shinies”.
Advice is found in the form of the Queen of Wands. To me, she embodies the qualities of the Goddess Brighid. She is Queen of the Hearth…Igniter of Passions…Source of Creativity…Protector of Loved Ones. She appears in this spread to remind us that while all of those things mentioned in the Challenge above are important (which is evident due to the fact that she represents them), it is also important to keep the Fires of the Spirit burning. She is here to lead by example. She shows us that it is possible to “have it all” if we maintain a balance by remaining anchored in our Spirit & Faith. Be true to yourself…and if things get out of hand, take a time out, go within and: Be Good to Yourself. (Yes…it’s time to cue Journey.)
Some of you may be confused by the title of this post, but as most of you awesome readers are pagans, I think you’ll get what I mean by this.
I like to look at endings as beginnings that’ve gotten a bad rap. Think about it. A birth is the beginning of life, but also the end of a pregnancy. Ends are simply transitions and/or transformations. We simply move on to another state of being. This holds true whether we are talking a change in careers, a change in marital status, or a change from corporeal life to ethereal life.
That’s something to keep in mind this time of year. Not only are we currently in the midst of a seasonal transition…but as Samhain approaches it becomes much easier to catch a glimpse at the ethereal side of life as the veil between this world and the next becomes quite thin.
You may also want to mull the concept over if you’re going through something that traditionally feels like an end. Examine the situation and find the positives. What new thing has (or could) come out of this “ending”? What opportunities await you as you embark on this new leg of your life’s journey?
The Pixie commands thee to find that silver lining!! lol
Anyway, here’s a few quotes to drive home what I’m talking about…the first one is the one that sparked this little Ramble Train. It’s a little something that was stated by the Master of Horror, and my favorite author, Stephen King! 😀
“Life is like a wheel. Sooner or later,
it always come around to where you started again.”
“Our life is an apprenticeship to the truth that around every circle another can be drawn; that there is no end in nature, but every end is a beginning, and under every deep a lower deep opens.”
Ralph Waldo Emerson
“The world is round and the place which may seem like the end
may also be the beginning.”
Ivy Baker Priest
This last one, including the photo, is mine. 😉
As the weather grows cooler, little critters try to find warmer places to hang out. Among these critters is our friend the Spider. This is evident in the many posts I’ve seen on social media by friends who haven’t been all that keen on the intrusion from their new house guests.
I’m here today to tell you that Spider could be trying to tell you something, and that perhaps it would be wise to figure out what. 😉
So, let’s start with what Spider represents in the spiritual realm. Spider is a Messenger, a Wisdom Keeper, a Dream-catcher, the Guardian of Ancient Languages & Alphabets, a powerfully creative female force, and a symbol of Balance & Infinite Possibilities.
If you see her it is time to take stock of the choices in your life. You may want to ask yourself how your choices have been affecting your life so far? Are things in your life out of whack..or in balance? How have your choices affected the lives of those around you? Are there any choices that you need to make in order to improve your life, and/or the lives of others? What do you want to create in your life, and what do you need to do to make things come to fruition?
She could be telling you that you need to be a little more patient in achieving your goals…or with others. It could be time to get creative as a solution to your problems…or to just express yourself in a creative way. Spider entering your life can also be a signal to explore your “shadow self”. Alternatively – especially this time of year- as the veil between the worlds is thinning it could be time to explore the web of your family tree and connect with & honor your Ancestors.
Basically, if you see her…especially if she’s designing one of her wondrous webs, take a peek at the metaphorical blue print that is your life and see if you want to make any design changes. Weave the life you want to live…You are the architect after all, change or don’t change things as you see fit. 🙂
Give Spider the respect she deserves…even E.B. White understood the importance of Spider. Anyone who has ever read, or watched Charlotte’s Web knows that Charlotte’s weaving and advice changed – and saved – the life of Wilbur. They formed a bond and their relationship was beneficial for both of them. If you’re lucky, you’ll have a few Charlotte’s in your life. 🙂
You can leave your friends behind. ‘Cause your friends don’t dance, and if they don’t dance – Why the hell not?? LOL
OK, it’s been a long work week for me (and yes, I realize it’s only Wednesday), and I just feel like I need some perking up. Perhaps you do as well. So, we’re gonna dance it out today. Sometimes you have to…sometimes it’s the only thing that keeps me from snapping and stabbing myself in the eye with a fork or something (though I doubt I would ever do anything *that* rash…but why risk it?? lol).
Where you dance doesn’t matter. You can dance in your living room, you can chair dance, car dance (yes, I said car dance….in my family it’s a thing!), you can even dance at work. I do it every day at one point or another…I’m sure there have been a few people shopping in whatever store I happen to be working in that have been amused – or perhaps baffled – by me and my own little groove factory.
It keeps me sane…ish, and helps to keep me in a decent state of mind. If others get a kick out of seeing the crazy Pixie wandering through a store singing and dancing, or sitting in the car doing the same, all the better. Spread the freaking joy. You can’t have too much of it, after all.
I guess you could say I am the real life female version of Turk from Scrubs (Yup, I’m visiting the T.V. Land in my mind again). He danced every time he felt the need, and he owned it. He also quoted the lyrics to Safety Dance…and some beautifully insane genius put together a compilation video of him dancing on the show…to the Safety Dance. It always cheers me up, and brightens my day…and the last few days have been a bit cloudy here, so I’m gonna share it with you.
Of course, you can dance to whatever tune gets you groovin’. Another one that does the trick for me lately is Uptown Funk by Bruno Mars. So here’s that one too.
That’s all I’ve got for this week, just remember: When in doubt, dance it out. 😉
Yes, I’m aware that this Foresight Friday post is actually getting to you on Saturday. I apologize for the late posting, but my brain just wasn’t being cooperative and forthcoming with the thinking and word making yesterday. I did pull the card, I just wasn’t able to form a cohesive sentence, lol. So, without any further delay, here’s what we’re dealing with for the week of 10/3/15 – 10/9/15.
Divination Method: The Witches Tarot
Card(s) Drawn: Two of Swords
Key Word(s): Opposition, Compromise
My Interpretation: So, perhaps things haven’t gone so well during this Mercury Retrograde. All those plans of being introspective and going inward may have been trumped by interactions that just plain old disrupted our Zen. That’s ok, I’m certain we’re not alone in this.
The Two of Swords tells us that any conflicts we have been having are currently in the midst of a cease fire. A peace has been restored…albeit a fragile one. Perhaps you have reached an impasse…or are choosing to pretend things are fine…or you’re just plain tired of fighting. Whatever the case, the good news is the carnage (physical, emotional, spiritual…etc.) is no longer actively occurring.
I doubt that the situation is over, but the Two of Swords is basically telling us to cool our proverbial jets for the moment and just let sleeping dogs lie. We’re in the final week of Mercury’s Retrograde cycle, and it’s just plain old better to leave well enough alone right now. Instead, try to relax, and maybe do something else that will take your mind off of the situation entirely. Enjoy the break from whatever it is…and find as much balance within yourself, and in your daily life as possible.
There are probably things you still wish to say or do, but this week is truly NOT THE TIME. Wait it out for a bit. You’ll either realize the situation isn’t nearly as dire as you perceived it to be, or you will find the proper way to deal with it.
Hang in there folks, the 9th is the last day of the Retrograde…Until then: Proceed with Caution.
This week’s post will be quick, because Mercury being retrograde has made my technology very temperamental, and I don’t want to risk writing a long post just to have the laptop freeze or internet crash…SO, let’s get to it, shall we??
If you’ve every seen the Iconic 1983 cult movie sensation The Outsiders, based on the S.E. Hinton novel of the same name, then you have heard my favorite Robert Frost poem. Here it is to refresh your memory:
It’s lovely, and simple…and it’s full of bittersweet wisdom. I always liked how Johnny Cade reflected on the poem after hearing Ponyboy recite it…but, I guess when you’re stranded in the burn unit with a broken back you’ve got a lot of time to think. He explains the important message held within Frost’s words in his final letter to Pony. In it he says:
“I’ve been thinking about it, and that poem, that guy that wrote it, he meant you’re gold when you’re a kid, like green. When you’re a kid everything’s new, dawn. It’s just when you get used to everything that it’s day. Like the way you dig sunsets, Pony. That’s gold. Keep that way, it’s a good way to be.”
So, that’s it. Stay Gold, everyone…it’s a good way to be.
I saw something on Pinterest yesterday that really jumped out at me. It said “Forgive them even if they’re not sorry”. It seems I needed the reminder. It’s difficult though…forgiving someone can sometimes feel like defeat, especially if the offending party has no remorse for whatever it is that they’ve done or said (or NOT done or said). However, the truth of the matter is, you don’t forgive for the sake of others…you forgive for the sake of yourself.
Sometimes it’s an exercise in compassion (See Giles Quote from the Buffy-verse below). If you take the time to learn the reasons or circumstances that have led the person to behave or act in a certain manner…if you can at least see the situation from their point of view, it may not change your opinion about the terribleness of said deed, but if you can at least understand what brought them to that course of action, it is easier to forgive them and let it go.
To forgive is an act of compassion…it’s not done because people deserve it, it’s done because they need it.”
RUPERT GILES, Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Grudges do not serve those who hold them, they poison the soul. They take hold and breed distrust and insecurities about ourselves and others. Seriously, who the hell needs that?!?! Nobody says you have to stay friends, or in a relationship, or talk to whomever it is that hurt you…deciding that has nothing to do with forgiveness, that’s a separate matter. Forgiving them lightens the burden on your soul, thus allowing you to continue on and lead a happy life.
Think of it this way: Forgiveness doesn’t excuse what’s been done. Forgiveness prevents what’s been done from destroying your heart & soul.
This also applies to yourself. Did you totally screw something up? Lie to someone? Make a bad choice? Flub up a presentation or project? Well, guess what? I know you’re awesome and everything, but here’s a little secret: You’re also human. Aaaaand Now, I’m hearing Human League in my head: “I’m only human. Of flesh and blood I’m made. Human….born to make mistakes”. It’s sappy 80’s cheese, but I LOVE IT! Besides, they make a hugely valid point. We all make mistakes, so why dwell on them?
Forgiveness doesn’t mean being a doormat….because who says you have to hate someone forever?? Hopefully nobody, because that doesn’t do anybody any good.
I’ll leave you with this…a couple years ago I watched a talk His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama gave that was streamed live via the internet (don’t you just LOVE technology???). Anyway, during this talk, he said that forgiveness is not to accept the wrongdoing of others….and that retaining feelings of anger, hatred and stress do more harm to YOU than they do to those you are harboring them towards. Then he defined what forgiveness really is, and that definition will be my final word on the subject (for today, at least).
