Yes, I’m aware that this Foresight Friday post is actually getting to you on Saturday. I apologize for the late posting, but my brain just wasn’t being cooperative and forthcoming with the thinking and word making yesterday. I did pull the card, I just wasn’t able to form a cohesive sentence, lol. So, without any further delay, here’s what we’re dealing with for the week of 10/3/15 – 10/9/15.
Divination Method: The Witches Tarot
Card(s) Drawn: Two of Swords
Key Word(s): Opposition, Compromise
My Interpretation: So, perhaps things haven’t gone so well during this Mercury Retrograde. All those plans of being introspective and going inward may have been trumped by interactions that just plain old disrupted our Zen. That’s ok, I’m certain we’re not alone in this.
The Two of Swords tells us that any conflicts we have been having are currently in the midst of a cease fire. A peace has been restored…albeit a fragile one. Perhaps you have reached an impasse…or are choosing to pretend things are fine…or you’re just plain tired of fighting. Whatever the case, the good news is the carnage (physical, emotional, spiritual…etc.) is no longer actively occurring.
I doubt that the situation is over, but the Two of Swords is basically telling us to cool our proverbial jets for the moment and just let sleeping dogs lie. We’re in the final week of Mercury’s Retrograde cycle, and it’s just plain old better to leave well enough alone right now. Instead, try to relax, and maybe do something else that will take your mind off of the situation entirely. Enjoy the break from whatever it is…and find as much balance within yourself, and in your daily life as possible.
There are probably things you still wish to say or do, but this week is truly NOT THE TIME. Wait it out for a bit. You’ll either realize the situation isn’t nearly as dire as you perceived it to be, or you will find the proper way to deal with it.
Hang in there folks, the 9th is the last day of the Retrograde…Until then: Proceed with Caution.
So, I picked up my cards this morning and was shuffling away and a card fell out. I think “Ok, so I guess this is the one”. I place it on my little cloth and then….the nudge. Gotta pull a second card because, as you know, you just don’t ignore the nudge. I placed the second card next to the first, and it all made sense (to me at least 😉 ).
Divination Method: The Secret Language of Animals Oracle Cards
Card(s) Drawn: Lotus Blue Butterfly, Tree Frog
Key Word(s): Transformation, Becoming, Lightness, Beauty
Soul Song, Meditation, Creation, Rebirth
My Interpretation: There’s a big emphasis on inner reflection and meditation for this coming week. This isn’t really a surprise to me, as we are currently in the middle of a Mercury Retrograde, and this is generally a time when this type of work is beneficial…not only to our own personal & spiritual development, but to surviving the retrograde period relatively unscathed.
While both the Butterfly & the Tree Frog represent a metamorphosis, they approach it from different angles. Here’s what I mean (and the order of the draw comes into play here). Butterfly is emerging from her chrysalis after having undergone a profound change. She approaches it’s newness with an outward expression of joy and lightness; flitting about in the sunshine, and drinking in the beauty of the flowers from which she draws nourishment. Frog does a lot of deep breathing…perhaps looking within to contemplate the many stages of Creation that he has undergone in his life. He connects with the rhythms of Nature through his breath, and begins to chirp his Soul Song in unison – not only with the other frogs, but also with Gaia Herself.
So what does this mean for us? Well, it means that we’ve all been through a lot. We’re not the person we once were, in one way or another….and THAT’S OK! We’re here, we’ve survived and we should flit about and be joyful, and light, and take in the beauty of the Universe. That being said, it’s also time to reflect on our transformations (past, present, and future). Connect with your inner self, and connect that with Nature…BREATHE. Sing your own soul song…whatever it may be, and when Mercury Retro gets in your way, BREATHE. You also may want to do something else the amazing little Tree Frog does…it hangs on tight! (Those little guys have remarkably useful suction cups on their feet that stick to pretty much anything!).
Basically, be thankful that you’ve survived life thus far, and know that if you play your cards right, you’ll continue to thrive…and can continue on your unique journey to being even MORE awesome than you were yesterday.
Brace yourselves folks, Mercury goes retrograde (yup, again) on October 21st. Some of you may have been feeling the effects already, as we’ve been in the “shadow period” for a couple weeks now.
For those of you who may not be aware, in astrology, the planet Mercury rules Rational Thought, Travel & Communication of all types (thus, effecting technology as well). When the planet is in retrograde (Appears to be moving backward through the heavens) all of these areas tend to go a bit…screwy. Why? Because the retrograde period of a planet is the equivalent of it going on vacation, thus leaving that which it rules unsupervised and free to run amok, lol.
Mercury Retrograde periods are generally a good time to spend reflecting on the aforementioned areas of our lives, and to become more aware of them and their effects. It is a time to be cautious in our interactions with others so as to not be misunderstood. We must be extra aware while traveling, allowing extra time for our journeys whether near or far, and being diligent in being safe.
Kris “Mrs. B.” Bradley (Renowned New Jersey Witch, Blogger & Author) has a wonderful Survival Guide posted on her blog. She sums up the basics so well, I see no need to write them out myself so check it out here: Mercury in Retrograde Survival Guide
So, now that you know what all this Retrograde business is about, and have a few ideas for making it a bit smoother, I’d like to suggest another: Appeal to the God Mercury himself!
Mercury is the Roman God of Trade/Commerce, Communication, Travel, Knowledge and Animal Husbandry. He is the Messenger of the Gods, as well as a Psychopomp (one who guides spirits to the afterlife).
Some ideas for honoring Mercury would be to perhaps schedule Meditations involving him, and offerings to him on the days leading up to the Retrograde Period, as well on each Wednesday during it.
Below are some Correspondences for Mercury to aid you in the choosing and timing of your offerings:
Animals: Serpent/Snake, Rooster, Turtle/Tortoise, Ram, Bull
Crystals/Stones: Agate, Amber, Aventurine, Jasper
Herbs/Incense: Frankincense, Myrrh, Cinnamon, Cassia
Food/Drink: Almonds, Honey, Olives, Pork
Objects: Feathers, Wings, Silver, Foreign Coins, Lyre
Day of the Week: Wednesday
Time of Day: Sunrise, Sunset
Tarot Card: The Magician
Festival Day: Mercurlia on May 15th
Mercury Retrograde Dates through the end of 2014:
- 10/21/13 – 11/10/13
- 2/6/14 – 2/28/14
- 6/7/14 – 7/1/14
- 10/4/14 – 10/25/14
If you try this method and things go fairly smooth, be sure to offer up your thanks to Mercury when the planet goes direct again (We mustn’t forget our manners!) Best of luck to you all, and remember: When all else fails, just laugh (It really does help!). If for some reason that doesn’t work? Well, then just hide behind the sofa until it blows over. 😉
