Go Ahead, Be a Weirdo #WednesdayWisdom #Pagan

If any of you are like me, then you’ve been looked at as kind of an oddball for most of your life. It hasn’t been an unpleasant thing (most of the time). My nearest and dearest family, friends, and co-workers have lovingly referred to me as weird, odd, goofy, unique, bonkers, crazy, unusual, etc., etc.. I don’t mind, because they’re entirely correct! LOL I’ve always had a different way of looking at things, and that just means that life with me is anything but boring. ๐Ÿ˜‰

It also means that I’ve had more than one chance to reenact this scene from The Craft:

Nancy and the girls pushed the boundaries of weirdness til they burst, but being weird in and of itself is nothing to be ashamed of. There’s a quote I recently came across that perfectly describes why that is so.

Go Ahead, Be a Weirdo #WednesdayWisdom #Pagan

So go ahead, Be a Weirdo! Keep showing others how they can see things a bit differently. ๐Ÿ™‚

You Can Dance...If You Want To. #WednesdayWisdom

You can leave your friends behind. ‘Cause your friends don’t dance, and if they don’t dance – Why the hell not?? LOL

OK, it’s been a long work week for me (and yes, I realize it’s only Wednesday), and I just feel like I need some perking up. Perhaps you do as well. So, we’re gonna dance it out today. Sometimes you have to…sometimes it’s the only thing that keeps me from snapping and stabbing myself in the eye with a fork or something (though I doubt I would ever do anything *that* rash…but why risk it?? lol).

Where you dance doesn’t matter. You can dance in your living room, you can chair dance, car dance (yes, I said car dance….in my family it’s a thing!), you can even dance at work. I do it every day at one point or another…I’m sure there have been a few people shopping in whatever store I happen to be working in that have been amused – or perhaps baffled – by me and ย my own little groove factory.

It keeps me sane…ish, and helps to keep me in a decent state of mind. If others get a kick out of seeing the crazy Pixie wandering through a store singing and dancing, or sitting in the car doing the same, all the better. Spread the freaking joy. You can’t have too much of it, after all.

I guess you could say I am the real life female version of Turk from Scrubs (Yup, I’m visiting the T.V. Land in my mind again). He danced every time he felt the need, and he owned it. He also quoted the lyrics to Safety Dance…and some beautifully insane genius put together a compilation video of him dancing on the show…to the Safety Dance. It always cheers me up, and brightens my day…and the last few days have been a bit cloudy here, so I’m gonna share it with you.

Of course, you can dance to whatever tune gets you groovin’. Another one that does the trick for me lately is Uptown Funk by Bruno Mars. So here’s that one too.

That’s all I’ve got for this week, just remember: When in doubt, dance it out. ๐Ÿ˜‰

This week’s post will be quick, because Mercury being retrograde has made my technology very temperamental, and I don’t want to risk writing a long post just to have the laptop freeze or internet crash…SO, let’s get to it, shall we??

If you’ve every seen the Iconic 1983 cult movie sensation The Outsiders, based on the S.E. Hinton novel of the same name, then you have heard my favorite Robert Frost poem. Here it is to refresh your memory:

Stay Gold #WednesdayWisdom

It’s lovely, and simple…and it’s full of bittersweet wisdom. I always liked how Johnny Cade reflected on the poem after hearing Ponyboy recite it…but, I guess when you’re stranded in the burn unit with a broken back you’ve got a lot of time to think. He explains the important message held within Frost’s words in his final letter to Pony. In it he says:

“I’ve been thinking about it, and that poem, that guy that wrote it, he meant you’re gold when you’re a kid, like green. When you’re a kid everything’s new, dawn. It’s just when you get used to everything that it’s day. Like the way you dig sunsets, Pony. That’s gold. Keep that way, it’s a good way to be.”ย

So, that’s it. Stay Gold, everyone…it’s a good way to be.

Sometimes You Gotta Say "What the F*ck" #WednesdayWisdom #ThePixilatedPathSo many of us go through our lives and are hesitant to truly live them. Have you ever regretted: NOT kissing the boy that was standing in your doorway, NOT asking for someone’s phone number (or giving them yours), Not applying for that dream job, or any other number of things? I’m pretty sure you have…and you know what? That’s OK, but I’m gonna tell you this: KNOCK IT OFF, ALREADY!

I spent many years of my life afraid to do the things that I wanted to. Yes, I’ve always had a spontaneous streak, but when it came down to doing something that was important to me, I’d generally chicken out and regret it later – often for years (Yeahhhh, that boy standing in my doorway…I didn’t seize the moment and kiss him. Even though every fiber of my being was screaming at me to do so, I chickened out and kicked myself for it for ages. Y’know what? Turns out he was WAITING for me to do it. *sigh*).

I very rarely ignore what my heart wants these days, and I am much happier for it. If nobody is getting hurt, why not chase that rainbow? You might end up having a life changing experience. I mean, much like Miles says to Joel in Risky Business (Yes, another pop culture reference. Get used to it, they are my life, lol) “Sometimes you gotta say “What the Fuck”, make your move. Joel, every now and then, saying “What the Fuck”, brings freedom. Freedom brings opportunity, opportunity makes your future.”

These words always stuck with me and, eventually I learned to live by them most days. Saying this cherished little phrase in my head lead to my relationship with my husband, the purchase of our house, the opening of my now defunct business (hey, I gave it a shot), life-long friendships with people I met online and decided to meet in person, even my decision to join the Coven of Sangha-Sho (albeit a “WTF” guided by the Divine, lol).

If you’d like a more eloquently stated version to print out and post at work, or on the fridge or something, try this quote by Goethe.

Plunge boldly into the thick of life, and seize it where you will, it is always interesting. - Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

However you want to phrase it is up to you, but I advise you to start saying yes to the things that tug at your heart strings. Life is one hell of a ride when you start purchasing those “WTF” tickets! Sometimes things don’t work out as you’d hoped, but at least you know you tried. If you never try, how will you know how splendid your world can be??

AprilPixiePic2014I don’t know about you, but I’ve been having a blast with the Pixie Pic-A-Day Photo Challenge! I have missed a couple days myself, as Jury Duty has been totally screwing up my schedule, but I’ve been trying to catch up.

Express Your Spirit #PaganBlogProject #PixiePicADaySelf-Expression occurs in many ways. Some write, some draw, some paint, some become actors or comedians, some create jewelry…the list goes on and on. While creating, in whatever medium is preferred, we tend to infuse much of our Ego into our work. This is sometimes referred to as Expressive Egoism.

Some may think expressing one’s Ego is a bit narcissistic, but that’s taking Egoism up a few notches to Egotism (That “T” makes a difference!). Which would be like going from being concerned about one’s own welfare to being utterly self-absorbed and primarily worried about yourself… Expressive Egoism is pretty much an exploration of self, and we should all do some of that every now and then.

“In reality, my art is a confession made of my own free will, an attempt to clarify my own notion of Life..at bottom it is kind of an egoism, but I shall not give up hoping that with its assistance I shall be able to help others achieve their own clarity.” ~Edvard Munch

This all sounds quite serious and fancy-schmancy, but in expressing ourselves we can also discover things about ourselves, our surroundings, and our lives (both Spiritual and Mundane). Time to push the seriousness slightly to the side, because I’ve decided it’s time to have some fun with it.

Anyone who follows me on Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook knows I’ve had a thing for participating in Photo-A-Day challenges. Well, I thought it was about time there was one that allowed us to express a little bit of our Spirit as well as the Ego. I will admit, I should have come up with this during a “C” week, you know, good ol’ creativity, but I didn’t think of it until this week. SO, you will notice the first 6 days are kinda missing. Whoopsie! Next month will have ALL days included and it will be posted early, so we can all look forward to it.

ย So, here it isย *points all Vanna White like to the lovely pic below*.
